hello

im just got engaged on oct 30th and i am having difficulty with alot of things(venue,etc) and im doing alot of it myself and d.i.y style.can anyone help me  so i dont become a bridezilla??

First off, you've been engaged just a couple of days! Congratulations! There is no pressing need to start planning immediately---take some time to enjoy being engaged. I know it can feel overwhelming, especially when everyone you know might be asking you about dates, what type of wedding it will be, etc. (I know people were asking me right away!).

Once you've taken some time to yourself, though, the most important thing to do together with your FI is to talk about the budget: how much money are you both willing and able to spend on the wedding (and don't ask parents to chip in... if they offer, great, but don't ask!); the guest list is just as important: who are the people you absolutely want to be there. Once you've got an idea of guests and budget you can start figuring out what kind of wedding, venue, food, drinks, etc., you will be able to plan for the number of guests you anticipate, for the amount of money you've agreed on.

But I also must ask, is your FI going to help you with the planning? It's his wedding too, so you should be able to rely on him to help out; he shouldn't expect you plan the whole thing yourself. Make sure he's on board too, so that you can both help each other stay sane during the planning process! Good luck!

Slow down! Take some time and just be engaged first. After a few weeks, talk to your fi and figure out your budget and a basic guest count. Then consult with your VIPs about potential dates. And go from there.
