So Russell and I have been dating for almost two years and we began talking about getting married for a few months and made it official on August 27th 2010! Here's the story!
I started off the day having the plan to work from 9-4, then pay tuition, go spend money and buy a bike, phone, and camera!!! BUTTTT that didn’t happen! After work I went and paid tuition and then Russell’s brother handed me a note on construction paper that had a block letter "E"! The letter said to go to the building on campus where we first met in a class that we had together. When I got to the building I followed a trail of construction paper hearts to a little pile of rose petals that had another note and the letter “M”. The note said to go to the UWF track, which is where we first started dating. So by this point I definitely figured out what was about to happen, so instead of going to the track right away I drove home real quick (I live 30 seconds away from school) and changed clothes because I still had my chick-fil-a uniform on. So I put on jeans, black t-shirt, and rain boots and grabbed an umbrella because it was pouring rain. I drove to the track and as I walked out to the field I see my roommates run away and “hide” and then I saw Russell dressed up in nice pants, a dress shirt and tie while standing on a plastic tarp covered with a HUGE pile of rose petals was Russell with a little black box in his hand. On top of the rose petals are the words “Rachel Will You Marry” I was supposed to bring the “M” and the “E”, but I left them in my jeep. He then got down on one knee in the pouring rain and said “Rachel Elizabeth Korhonen will you marry me?” And of course I said “YESSSSS!!!!” Then we had a hugging session for like five minutes followed by a kiss! While this is all happening my roommates and Matt Holley along with the track team who were having practice are watching and cheering! Then my roommates and I began to scream and have our own hugging session! All this was happening while my friend Paige was taking awesome pictures and it was POURING down rain by this point! Then began the rose petal throwing fight! We then made things really exciting and went slip and sliding on the plastic tarp covered in rose petals! It was epic and probably the most unique proposal EVER!!!!
