Re: **heatherreineke**

  • Awesome! I'm working on the DO schools app, so it's not too bad. The worst part is the Personal Statement. I've just lost motivation sorta so I just need to get my butt in gear.
I'm also dreading taking the mcats again but hopefully it'll all come back again!
  • i dont mena to hijack this post, but im another med student (MD/PhD student, 6th year) so let me know if you need anything.

i live in utah now (attend the U of U) but applied all over the country including some DO schools, so let me know if you need info.

  • You guys are sweet! :) I think the hardest part will be waiting once I actually get the application done.
And when we're possibly living apart for the first few years...He's got a well set job that he enjoys so I don't want him to quit to come wherever I am...
  • good luck! i know about the living apart thing, too! we've been doing that for 4 years. it sucks, that for sure. if you can avoid having to fly to one another, i would strongly suggest it. being far apart is always hard, but being able to drive really helps you feel like you are in control of your destiny.

i am in utah, fi is in NY -- so we are stuck with planes. the travel nightmares that come with that, and the inflexibility is more challenging than i like to think about.

  • I agree with lynnie - hopefully you can find and get into a place that is a driveable distance - FI and I did the long distance plane thing for 3 years (thank-goodness he is a yr ahead of me in training, so he got his residency close to my med school) :)

Best of luck with the app process!! The personal statement is a pain, but if it makes you feel any better I did actually get asked about stuff on it (unlike the residency personal statement, lol!).
