Wedding Date Issues

My fiance and I have been engaged since August of 2011. We planned to get married in July, 2014 after I finished Nursing School (graduation date December 2013). However, I've had a small set back with classes, clinicals, and practicum which pushed my graduation date back to May 2014. 

My fiance suggested that we just push the wedding date back to December 2014, but this past summer, I had spent a lot of time on TheKnot getting ideas for a summer wedding.. How do I try to get ideas for a winter wedding when I was so excited and hyped for a summer wedding? Should I just try to plan during practicum? Or should I just wait until July, 2015 to get married??? So lost

Will you have anything stressful going on after your graduation date? I also will graduate in May 2014, and we are confident we can pull off a June 2014 wedding no problem, but I will also have nothing going on for the month after graduation, since the summer will be my break before grad school. With so much time to plan, you can take it slow. Book vendors early (I'm doing my over the next few months), spend months working on DIY projects, find your dress over a break, etc. Then, if you plan on having a slow few months after graduation, you can use that time to finalize all the details. I know I will be doing the most work right before the wedding as RSVPs come in, since we are making our own favors and flowers.

And remember, the wedding doesn't have to be a huge production. It can be very simple. My mom and dad planned a wedding in 4 months, right after graduation, and that included her making her own dress! Or, if you have the money and desire for a large wedding, you could perhaps hire a wedding planner to help you with all the details as you work towards your degree.

I have will have nursing state boards around June after graduation, so I'm not sure if I can pull off a July 2014 wedding..

What about a september 2014 wedding? You can still have a summer themed wedding in Atlanta the weather should still be summery Good Luck!

Just for an update: My finance has COMPLETELY surprised me! He asked for the wedding to be pushed back to December so his family from South America could come for an exteneded stay (they will be right in the middle of their Spring semester if we did a Labor Day wedding). So, my fiance took the liberty of making his own profile on TheKnot and has created some beautiful inspiration boards for a wintery wedding. It's helped get me excited about a winter wedding!

I am getting married in september after graduating nuring school in May this year.   I know that there are a few girls in classes who are getting married in the begining of JUNE so that when they apply for boards they can use thier new names.  I guess its up to you and how organized you are.

That was so nice of him to do that! I love it when the FI is willing to help out. The fact that he is trying to take away some of your stress really is a tribute to how much he loves you. Congrats on having such an awesome future hubby!
