Today one of my lab coordinators (a middle- aged man) looked at my left hand and saw my ring. He asked if I was engaged and I said yes. He then proceeded to patronize me, telling me I am too young to get married. Now, this is not the first time this has happened (all strangers, no one that actually knows my FI and me), and I usually let it roll off my back. But for some reason it REALLY bothered me today. I've been sick all week and stressed out about school, and this was basically the straw that broke the camel's back.
After this happened, I called my FI to vent, and he said the sweetest thing:
" I just feel sorry for people like that. Obviously they were not as blessed as we were to find each other so young." I melted as soon as he said that. He really knows the right things to say to make my day better!
This post was mostly to vent, but does this happen to any of you? Do any of your professors/ instructors judge you for being young and engaged?
