Newbie! March 2011 Medical Student Bride

Hello everyone, 
   just thought I would introduce myself. The March 2011 board recommended that I check you all out

I've been engaged for a little over a week now and I can already tell life will never be the same... it's a great thing!

A quick bit about my fiance and I, and the wedding. My fiance is a wonderful man that works in Houston, while I am in medical school 2hrs away. We met at a small group bible study and have been dating a little over 2 years. He is more than I ever wished for!

We have decided to get married during my 2nd year spring break so the wedding is going to be March 11, 2011. This is a Friday, but seeing that Saturday was taken at the location we wanted (hometown and VERY affordable) and we only have one possible weekend, we are left with Friday.

I look forward to sharing our planning time together and listening to all your wonderful advice. Happy Summer!

My Fiance just finished his first week of med school in Fort Worth Tx. I am  going to finish my undergrad 5 hours away from him. we have been engaged almost a month now and are getting married june 16 2012. We wanted 6-9-12 but we talked to the school and they said that is the week of board exam so we pushed it forward a week. The school told us that the best time to get married is Spring Break, Christmas or Summer. We really thought about Spring Break of 2012 but I did not want to get married before I grad college, then have to be apart for the first few months! I think you are picking the PERFECT time! good luck and congrats!

I had a question regarding getting married during medical school.  My fiance proposed at the end of July, and just started his second year of medical school at the beginning of August.  We were already planning on a long(ish) engagement, but I was wondering if it would even be possible to get married while he was still in school.  If so, when is the best time?  Or will I just have to wait until he graduates?  I am very understanding about the amount of time school requires, and am even willing to postpone a honeymoon if it would change anything.  Any thoughts that can be offered on the subject would be greatly appreciated.

mcoslund- I have the exact same question! We got engaged in august and he is in his second year of med school.  He suggested that we wait till he graduates but that isn't for almost 3 years!  I think that they might have some free time here or there in their 3rd and 4th years in between rotations, but I am not sure if we would know far enough in advance to be able to plan the wedding.  I feel like people get married in medical school all the time, but I am totally at a loss for how/ when etc.
