About That Name Change....

My fianceé and I are both in graduate school in Michigan. I own a home here, pay taxes here, and vote here. However, I've still held on to my Maryland driver's license.

The wedding is in MD, and we'll be there for several days after the wedding. Although a trip to the DMV isn't on our itinerary for our first days as newlyweds, would it be less of a hassle to get the official change done there? (I'm thinking I probably have to go to the social security office first, too.) Or should I switch my license/registration/insurance to Michigan and do the name change here after the wedding?

technically yes you are driving illegally, but I drove in CA with a VA license for 3 months before switching it over and as long as you dont get pulled over or arrested, then you are fine with waiting until after the wedding if you dont have time

Nope, I'm not illegal. Since I'm a student and not a "permanent resident" of Michigan, it's totally fine that I have an out-of-state license. Trust me, I asked these questions when I bought my house (and have been pulled over once and stopped at a sobriety checkpoint)!

It's a convenience question.
