Medical and PA school are both competitive fields to get into.  I say this because I am not trying to discourage you, but because it will be damn hard but not impossible.  I think this is what you need to do.  Finish up your medical assisting and keep that 4.0.  Utilize that degree, because the experience in the medical field will give you a plus on your application for any of the two school.

Be careful, when you go back to school to finish your psychology degree because it is hard to bring up your gpa from 2.0, but if you start doing very well in your courses and especially your science courses and bring it up to a good gpa. Really do well in the MCAT or the GRE depending on the school you decide to go to.  It will be a long tough road, but if you really want to pursue it, you can do it!!!!

Although, medical and PA schools are very different from each other in terms of time committment, and years spent in school, etc etc.  You should look into which one you want to pursue.

  •   I am totally there with you.  My fiance and I are young and had kids before we were ready to be married.  My son was born between my sophomore and junior years at college and my daughter (a major preemie) was born during my senior year.  I finished school on time but my GPA took major hits.  I tried to be as honest with my professors as I could, but some were more receptive and forgiving than others.
I  'm newly engaged and am planning a wedding, and haven taken a two year break from school am now getting my butt into Grad school.  Best I can tell you is the same thing I tell myself... keep on trucking and look to the end result, not the day by day crap.  (I mean that for everything school/kids/weddings)
      Best of luck!
