Tuesday's Tips- Budget Cuts

Okay my budget cutting tip is the guest list. If you are having a nice dinner ($15 and above is nice to me!) and you have a 100 person guest list, take a look at your guests and cut the people that you don't really see, or talk to, or that are just going to come and eat the food and leave and talk crap later...those people don't deserve your wedding!

my budget cut is the huge fancy cake. we opted for tiny cake for the cutting and looks and picture and then its busting out the sheet cakes, and other assorted deserts such as cookies brownies and fruit served on a dessert table help yourself style.  with 200 people and 2-6 dollars per slice we said no thank you and are throwing that tradition out the window.

Going off the first tip, make an A and B list.  The A list are all the must have people (family and close friends).  B list are all the maybe's such as certain coworkers, cousins you haven't spoken to in 10 years etc.

My budget tip.  DIY!  I did many of my things myself.  One item was the favors.  I bought little favor boxes at Michael's and decorated them with riboon and other things to make them my own.  They came out super cute.

Amen on the DIY! I'm doing my invites (saving $600) and my place cards (saving $100).  I also started calling in favors to people I knew had connections.  Im using a caterer that my friend used at her wedding who is a friend of hers and he is charging me less because we have a mutual friend, my cousin is a professional wedding photographer so shes doing my photography, my uncle makes wine so we are using his wine and another cousin works for Youngs Market Co. and they supply almost every restaurant and bar in Los Angeles with their alcohol.  I would say start calling in favors... I also say don't be afraid to ask for a discount, now is the time to pinch pennies!

COmpletely agree with favors and discounts.  My BIL is a DJ so he did our wedding free.  We only paid a minimal amount to his partner to show up as well and DJ when my BIL was participating in the ceremony.  Dh's aunt is a photog so we used her services, although I ended up hating the pics.  My mom's BF works at the country club we had our wedding at so we got huge discounts on food and paid nothing for the ceremony.  Calling in favors works!  Oh, then my friend is/was friends with a lady that does linens and got hooked up there as well.
