Vendor Reviews - 10/24/09

Hi Ladies! It seems like we waited forever for our wedding to get here, and then it happened in an instant! But it was an absolutely increadible day, and I wanted to post my vendor reviews, because i know how much I enjoyed looking at other brides' reviews when I was planning! Ceremony - St. Bede the Venerable, Mentor, OH - AIts the church I grew up in, and though not necessarily beautiful as far as Catholic churches go, it looked nice decorated, and the Priest, Fr. Tim, is AWESOME.Reception - Orchard Hills Center - Chesterland, OH - A++Betty, the wedding coordinator, is amazing, and is so easily accessible and helpful! Plus, the place is absolutely beautiful in the fall. Everything looked perfect and ran smoothly.Caterer - Social Affairs - Newbury, OH - D-I LOVED them at our trails, the food was delicious. But on the wedding day, Nicole, the owner, was extremely rude, reeked of cigarettes, and left as soon as dinner was cleaned up, and the meals were less than adequate. The potatoes were not cooked, the salad dressings were not what we agreed upon, the meat was dry, and we had stuffed chicken, and the stuffing had nuts in it, which we specifically told them not to include in the stuffing as we had a guest with an allergy. The meals were not even CLOSE to being worth what we paid for them, and I was embarrassed to serve them to our guests. I would give them an F, but the meals were edible and the guests didn't seem to mind, but my husband and I and our families definately noticed.Photographer - T1 Photo - Perry, OH - A++++++++I already wrote a RAVE about Thomas (a few posts below.) Can't way enough. Love him, loved our pictures, loved the price, my FAVORITE vendor.Cake - Mainstreet Cupcakes - Hudson, OH - AEasy to work with, adoreable, yummy cupcakes, and good price. Flowers - Roses for Weddings - Medina, OH - AOur flowers turned out exactly as I described them to Ety, who I had never met in person. She was easy to get ahold of, listened to my ideas, worked within my budget, and even drove from Medina to Mentor and back TWICE to get the aisle runner to the church, which she forgot the first time. I realize that was sort of her duty, but I thought it was still nice of her.DJ - LV Sound - Richfield, OH - A+Lee Volkav of LV Sound was a great find. I don't even remember how we discovered him, but he was only $450 for an entire 6 hour reception, included a light show, and worked with our DEMANDING music instructions. We had really extensive must play lists, try to play lists, and do not play lists, and seperate lists for cocktail/dinner music and dancing, and he followed them to a T. He was professional and not cheesy, and really easy to work with.Limo - All Occasion Limosine, Mentor, OH - B+The price there is great with the Entertainment coupon, and the limo was fine and driver was friendly and porfessional. My only complaint was that he left while we were getting pictures at Squires Castle between the wedding and reception to go on a beer and champaigne run (which was really nice of him) but he went way out of the way and took forever to get back to pick us up, so we had to wait, and it was REALLY cold. Other than that, no complaints. Travel Agent - Diane Caldwell, Big Sky Travel - Brook Park, OH - A++++++For no fee, she helped us find the PERFECT spot for us (Couples Sans Souci in Ocho Rios, Jamaica), took care of booking everything, scored us all kinds of honeymoon bonuses like champagne in the room and spa credits, and helped us when our flight got delayed and rerouted. I am SO glad we decided to book through her. I think thats it! Other than the caterer mishap, the day was perfect, and we had so much fun! Thanks to everyone on this board who helped with advice and encouragement, you have been such awesome resources! Good luck to all girls still planning weddings! Try not to stress too much and just ENJOY! :)

glad the day went good :)i was wondering as far as the flowers go, were they reasonably priced? also did they give you a contract when you first went with them and did they have you put down a deposit?  im just trying to compare with another florist cause we were considering using them!  thanks!!

Heath04Angel - I loved working with Roses for Weddings because Ety, the owner, is super flexible. I called her, told her my budget (which was minimal) and what I wanted, and she worked with it. I didn't get anything too extensive, but she was great. She does everything herself and is so good about answering her phone (some vendors are so hard to get ahold of! She is not.) and answering all questions. Her basic prices are available on her website http://www.rosesforweddings.com/product_page.htmbut I would totally recommend calling her, telling her what you're looking for and what you want to spend, and go from there. :)

Main Street Cupcakes...my favorite! Yum! I'm glad you had a good day (besides the caterer).
