I wish Andrew's parents didn't instill gender roles in their kids.  Andrew has no clue how to cook.  Why didn't his mom show her kids so I wouldn't have to be the only person to cook.  All Andrew can make is quesedillas and eggs.  :(

I was raised in a family where women had their roles and men pretty much sat on their butts and did nothing.  I completely turned that around.  Andrew does his own laundry and cleans.  The only thing he can't do is cook.

for part of my life, my mom stayed home with us and cooked and cleaned. For awhile though, things were rough and my dad was laid off and couldnt find work, so my mom worked two jobs and my dad stayed home with us and cooked and cleaned. I think its OUR home and OUR family... we should both take care of it. i remember when we went to a mormon church when i was younger, it just blew my mind the role they had for women.

    So what is for dinner?
  • edited December 2011
I am thinking fast food for dinner!  HAHAHA.  I'm lazy.  I don't care if I'm broke...I have savings to pull from (I always pay it back when I get paid).Oh yes Lacey.  Women in that religion have their set roles.  Think Little House on the Prairie.  Women do "women" things and men do "men" things...sucks.  I was raised like that too (not Mormon, but with the roles) ut I threw all that crap out when I moved out.  Everyone should be equal.  I work longer hoursa than Andrew usually, why should I bare the brunt of the housework?  Good thing he agrees with me and helps.

andrews dad is kind of a chauvinist... so i think once andrews grandma moved in, she did everything. So... he sometimes acts like i should do everything. But, i just remind him i make more and work more, and if i am going to be a 50s housewife, then he needs to be a 50s husband, and hes not! he normally shuts up then. lol

HAHA!  That's my argument sometimes as well.  If Andrew made double than we could be a 50s couple just fine.  As of now if we lived on his income only we would be able to [pay the mortgage and maybe 1 car and that would be it.  No $ for food or or fun.

lol us too. his income could cover rent, and either a car or the utilities.
