A little advice please

I have an interview at Barstow hospital today!  It's for a part time position.  Victor Valley hospital has told me they would hire me in a full time position, but not til October because they don't want to train another person at the same time as their other trainees.  I would much rather work at Victor, but I can't wait that long.  Should I call Victor today after my interview and tell them that Barstow has offered me a job (assuming that they do), but I would rather work for them and can they please please start me in sept instead :o)?  I'm leaving for my interview right now so I'll let you guys know how it goes when I get back!

    I dont remember where you live but Barstow seems pretty far to travel for a part time position unless they hire you part time with promising you full time soon. If I was you I would hold out for what you really want and get a dinky little part time job somewhere else to hold you over until you could work at Victor valley. I also would only hold out for Victor Valley if they 100% guarantee you a job. I would hate to pass up Barstow which would give you a foot in the door just for Victor Valley to change their mind.

    Hmmmm honestly I think I would write u off if u called and said that. I would take it as an ultamatum(sp?) or maybe im just a biiitchy employer :0(

    Yeah I agree and forgot that part I would NEVER give an employer and ultimatum It wont work out in your favor.

    I agree.  I would never give an ultimatum (though I know that's now how you would present it, but it could come off that way).  Nursing is a hot job right now and they can always find someone who would be willing to wait until October.  If you tell them about the other job opportunity they may just write you off.

    Thanks guys, that's exactly what I wanted to know.  I didn't know if doing that would hurt my chances.  I just got back from Barstow and I DO NOT want to drive that drive 2-3 times a week!  The interview went good but it wasn't for the position that I want and I kinda let them know that.  It has been 4 years since I did any kind of interviewing and my last job interview was like a mass hire thing so it wasn't even that bad.  It's hard getting used to serious interviews!

    I wouldn't take the job at Barstow either. I would rather wait, it is a crappy drive and for a part time position it isnt worth. I would try to wait out the couple of months and work at Victor. Maybe just apply at some crappy job until October. Like go to the mall and just apply places, if you NEED a job before then.
