ok, i know i have asked about this a million times, but this is the first time we have ever be approved for it, and the school is no help when it comes to answering questions. So... DH was approved, and has his classes paid for. We already registered and they waived the fees. The financial aid award letter though says he is also qualified for extra money. When and how do we get this? TIA... i know i am a PITA.

What type of extra $?  I was always qualified for aid (which paid for everything) and also loans.  It may mean subsidized or unsubsidized loans.  What exactly does the award letter say?  If it's not loans it may be more aid that he will get once the semester/quarter begins.

it says that he recieved a BOG fee waiver, which is like 400 bucks a semester, which easily covers his classes. But he also receives a pell grant, which is like 6K. Which would be awesome, but seems pretty outrageous to me.

It's FREE!  They will disburse the $ each semester/quarter to him.  It won't be all of it at once but will cover the entire year of school.  Bog $ won't be sent to you though.

so they will just divide that money up over the school year and then send us a check!?

Yup.  Every new quarte/semester you will get a new check after all fees and tuition have been paid (not including books and parking).

so in theory the extra money could be for books, parking, transportation, etc.. or however you see fit?

holy bajesus! thats the best news i have ever heard! according to the letter thingy, we should get 2700 in the fall, and 2700 in the spring. his books for this semester are like, 300 bucks, and parking is like 30. thats 2400 extra baby!! woohoo!! time to pay off some bills! maybe we will be buying a house sooner than we thought!

ok, next question... when we filled out the paper work, we werent married yet, so when we file next time, how will being married affect the financial aid?

This is how t will affect it:  I used to get everplus extra $.  This year I filed married and I get NO financial ai anymore, only loans.  But this depends on both incomes.  If you don't make a ton he can still qualify but not for as much.

oh really? maybe we will forget to tell them we are married. lol either way, we both seem like we dont make a lot of money, because most of our money is tips.
