Looks like we're the only 2 late-nighter knotties! However, I have an advantage with the 10 hour time difference hehe.. So really, you're the champ ;) Sorry, I know nothing about the airforce though. Is a family member thinking of enlisting?

lol i am just an insomniac! i am so jealous you live there... thats so cool! one of my best friends FIs is thinking about signing up, and i was just curious about the enlisting process. He is going in as an officer, and i know the airforce is pretty selective.

And so wherever I am, I always miss the other! Its so hard deciding where to settle down in the long run :( If you or any of the other girls are interested though, we love company from Ca! We can make pretty good private tour guides :D

No clue about the airforce.  Lacey was in the airforce though so you should email her.  She should have some knowledge.

No prob, I hope it was helpful! Its definitely a different lifestyle here, but there are quite a few similarities between the two countries. And I think they kinda admire us in some areas of life. At grocery stores, they have a special "American stand" where you can buy like mayonnaise, mustard, brownie mix, jell-o, and other products that aren't readily available. Some people tend to dress very American, and you'll even hear natives use well known English phrases in their Finnish conversation. I can't help but giggle every time.. hehe

Lol.. about 80% of the population speaks English so thankfully I don't have much trouble in communicating. In schools, they actually require students to learn English since its the common language of the world; so the ones who don't speak much, or any at all, are often really young or elderly. I've studied Swedish and Finnish, which are the 2 national languages, but I have a hard time with the pronounciation and remembering all the words! I can generally understand it though and I'm continuing to practice, sooo maybe someday :)I live in a 1 bedroom condo in downtown Helsinki, which is the country's capital. The city is located in the far South, right off the Baltic sea, so I'm less than 2 blocks from the water. And being that its the city, I'm in walking distance of pretty much everything.I actually have some pictures of my home, and the city, that I can share if you girls are interested. But only if you all consider visiting after! :D
