BofA "Keep the Change" program

Not sure if anyone else with BofA uses this feature.  Whatever dollar amount you spend the bank will round up to the next dollar and put the difference from what you spent to the next dollar into savings.  If I used my debit card and spent $4.22 BofA will round up to $5 and put the remaining $.78 into savings.  I just looked up my account and it says since enrolling in the program I've saved $1300!  Not bad!

My husband's enrolled in the program as well.  I don't know how much he's saved.  He probably doesn't even know how much money is in his account. =)

It's amazing how change adds up>  A few cents here and there then all of a sudden (OK, it took awhile) it added up to a ton.

We just enrolled for that same thing! I think they match it the first year too

Yea, I think they matched it the first year.  Not sure if they did after that.  Prob. not.

Now I'm excited! We decided that we should have a savings just for vacation that we would add to each month rather than trying to keep it all in one account

That's what we do Amber.  We have a savings account and a separate vacation account.  It works well for us this way.  When $ goes into savings I hate touching it even if I know it's meant for something else.  I feel like I'm robbing my savings!  My vacation account used to be the wedding account.  We had leftover $ in it so I had the most awesome idea and kept the account open with the $ that was already there and named it our vacation account.  That's how we made it to Hawaii this year.

Very cool! Even better is that you had money left over from your wedding. Between our house, wedding and honeymoon we spent almost all of our savings

I had a set amount that I would keep in savings when planning the wedding.  Anything over that amount was for the wedding if I needed it.  I have no clue how we had extra $.  I didn't really budget for the wedding and keep track of every expenditure.  I just needed to make sure I had enough for the venue (the biggest expense).  Some people gave us $ so maybe it was from the generous monitary gifts we received.  I have no clue!  LOL...we just had extra money somehow.

Very nice!!! I've been doing that with my account (by myself...not through my bank) for years now. I also have a big Arrowhead water jug in my room that I throw all of my change in. I went to Italy 2 summers ago and between my Arrowhead bottle and my "keep the change" thing, it paid for my trip =) It is really crazy how the change adds up.
