Stupid question

If a venue has a preferred vendor list, does that mean they only allow vendors off that list?  Or is that just who they prefer, but will allow vendors that are not on the list?

I think it is just vendors that they prefer to work. My venue has preferred vendors but I won't be using them because they are wayyyy too expensive.

yep..its typically people that already have worked the venue a bunch of times and know who what and where everything is...usually more expensive in my opinion.

I think for most places it is just vendors that they have worked with before, but they aren't a MUST. But just to be sure it would be smart to contact your venue to find out their specific rules... you don't want to get stuck having to pay for 2!! :)

It just means that they work with the venue often and are preferred since they know the venue well. It ALSO means that if they screw up, the venue is backing them. So instead of picking random vendors, you have the trust of the venue's recommendation as well. So they will obviously work to please you, or they lose business by having the risk of the vendor removing them from their list. Does that make sense?
