Fake photographer??

One of the first things I started planning for my wedding was the photographer. I found a great photographer online that was having a discount on their photography packages, and after corresponding online for a little bit and reviewing all their samples photos they sent me, I decided to book with them. I emailed them the contract with my fiance's credit card information and thought it was all good. Then, just the other day, I was looking at a random wedding advice website and saw several of the photos from my photographer's website on this other website. I realized that those photos looked like the kind you purchase from bulk photo companies that people use to decorate generic websites. Now I feel weirded out that my photographer has photos on their website that AREN'T PHOTOS THEY PERSONALLY SHOT! I am really nervous and I don't know what to do next. Should I just cancel? Should I confront them about the fake photos? Here's a link to my photographer's website... the third photo to the right is one of the "fake" photos.http://www.keepyourimage.com/Wedding_Prices.html

MVP Photography. Apparently they have offices all over Southern California  & they do various forms of photography for sports, weddings, etc. I was looking over the old emails and the samples they sent me on there, and those don't appear to be fakes but actual REAL weddings. So I feel a little better. I'm probably going to call them tomorrow and ask them about that. It may have been that none of the people they've shot photos with wanted photos posted publicly.

Sometimes a photographer's photos can be featured on various websites, in magazines, or used for promotions; making it possible for this to be the case. I noticed that the website has a copyright posted at the bottom, so it is likely that the photos displayed are actual photos taken by one of their photographers. However, they mention that they have numerous photographers who focus on specific occasions and who work within certain regions. I would definitely suggest asking to see sample photos from the photographer they plan to have working with you before coming to a decision. Since photographers embody their own unique style, its impossible to assume that the photos you've seen are samples of what will be captured on your wedding day, unless of course that photographer will be working with you.Good luck and keep us updated!

Like Ashley said, it is possible that those "fake" photos are actually photos taken by some of their photographers. However, if I were you I'd still call and ask them just in case.

It sounds a little fishy to me. Have you actually spoken to someone on the phone from this company? I would find it weird that correspondence may have only taken place by email, if you haven't actually spoken to someone.  I would definitely call and ask.If you feel really uncomfortable with the situation then you can always call your credit card company to have charges blocked or revoked.  There are many reputable and great photographers out there, so you will find the one that best suits you. =)

Well, I just called and talked to their office lady (I've talked to her briefly when I first discovered this company) and she said that since its so early on, she wouldn't be able to tell me which photographer I would get. But she said that there are several wedding photographers within the office and that they all have similar styles. She said that as it got closer to the wedding, I would be assigned a wedding photographer and I would be able to go over with them what I want and I could also show the photographer images that I really like from other weddings so that they can understand what I'm going for. (Wow, that was a long sentence!) Thanks for the advice everyone!
