engagement pics

Hey I'm from the Florida West coast but living in the IE for school. I need some help in finding a photographer for my engagement photos. I would love to take my pics at either La Jolla or huntington gardens. I love La Jolla because it is so captivating with such gorgeous views of the water esp. at sunset and my fiance proposed to me at Huntington gardens. Has anyone taken engagement pics at either site or has any advice.

-Thanks

Huntington Gardens - although the most beautiful place to take pictures, has the MOST outrageous photography fees!!! You can't walk in with your photog and do a session or they'll kick you out. I really wanted to do mine there, so I emailed them for info. Here's an excerpt from their packet...

What are the fees? The base fee is $650 for up to 15 people, plus a $100 permit fee for the city of San Marino. There is also a $300 refundable deposit to cover any additional expenses that may be incurred, including but not limited to property damage. Depending on the number of people and other logistical considerations, additional fees may apply; specific charges are determined in advance on a project-by-project basis. The maximum number of people allowed is 45; this includes photographers, videographers, their assistants, and any friends, family, and helpers who may be accompanying the photo session. (See page 4 for list of additional fees.)

The fees aren't including anything you're going to be paying the photographer - way to expensive for my taste!

Whao, this is like a down payment for wedding photos. I'm so disappointed. I called and they said we could take pictures just as long as professional equipment was not used or the photographer was a professional. They also look out to see if the photographer coaches the couple, or the couple changes clothing etc. I think we could pull it off if we get a friend that takes good photos to do it.
