Escort/Place cards

I really want to do escort/place cards but my venue is outside and I'm worried that the traditional ones that are just on a table may blow away.  I was thinking maybe a corkboard kind of in a picture frame with the place cards just pinned in there in alpha order.  Maybe with some of our engagement pics scattered around in there? What do you ladies think?

i really like the corkboard idea!!  that would be cute.. ive also seen some fancy clothes lines with ecord cards held on my clothespins that's also really cute...

you could also attach the escort cards to something heavy that doubles as your favor...(my cousin did a gift box of chocolate covered pretzels) for a table display:

    hope that helps.....

while we're on the topic of seating charts... is there anyone here that displayed a chart rather than using the escort cards? we're considering going that route but don't know yet... if so.. how did it work out? were your guests able to find there seats ok without cards?

Sarah - I would take emily's suggestions and use something that is going with your theme of the wedding.  Do you have a theme?  If not I know you can find place card holders pretty inexpensive online.

Emily - I decided to do a chart instead too, but I haven't started it.  I plan to work on it tomorrow or during the week before Saturday so I will let you know how it goes.  I don't like the idea of people having to search for their names to find their table number so i'm doing it alphabetical.

The cork board sounds cute! I also like the framed seating chart on an easel. I think it looks really classy.

I just came across this idea a few weeks ago. I think it is soooo cute! I think I'm going to do something like this with a floral picture instead of the skyline.

I did a chart... It was WAAAAY cheaper, and I think it was easier to read. Not to mention the space we had to display the seating was limited, so that really helped.

I think it worked well, except we had so many no-shows! :( Made the hall look empty and I was really dissapointed with those people.. Why send an RSVP with a YES?! and NOT go?! :(...

I have a picture of it I can send you if your interested in seeing how I did it :D
