Need some help for an August wedding...

Hi,
I will be getting married in your area because my fiance is from Riverside. We are planning our wedding for August, and my venue has given me the option of having my dinner inside and then moving everyone out to a patio afterwards for cake and dancing. It's going to be an early dinner, so we will probably be moving around 6:00 - 6:30 to the patio if we decide to. I am wondering if you could give me some input as to whether you think it would be better to stay inside (in the A/C) or go out onto the patio (supposedly there are fans) after dinner. I don't know what time the sun typically goes down late summer there and I am wondering if the temperature drop is significant once it finally does.
Thanks for the input!

August is really hot. I had my reception indoors in Riverside and my cocktail hour outdoors, which I really debated on. The only reason I ended up doing it outside (even though it was really pretty, that wasn't enough) was once it hit 90 degrees, my venue would put on overhead misters. You can look up your exact date on a sunset calendar for previous years and it will tell you sundown. I just know it will be really hot. By the end of the night, I was a hot mess and that was only July :)

I've lived in Riverside all my life and let me tell you August and September are probably the hottest months. The sun doesn't go down until after 8 and it can stay hot long after the sun goes down. If I were you I'd stay inside. Plus, you don't want to be sweating in your gown or have your make-up melt off.

Thank you for the responses! Our date is August 1st, although from the sounds of it that's not going to make a difference really.

its hot, but i think if majority of the guest are from around here they wont mind because they'll be used to it ya know. i love being outside. and less decor is needed too.....i guess just weigh out the pros and cons.

I had my ceremony on Sept 6 and it was 93 outside at 4:30pm.  August is just as bad.   It was so hot.  I felt bad for my guests being seated in teh heat.  I gave them all paper fans but with no breeze it was just really hot.  My crinoline was sticking to my legs when we were taking pics and in most of my pics you can see how glossy I was from sweat.

good idea with the fans kasi.  even though our ceremony will be in the church i bet it would still be nice to have those fans. . . did you buy them bulk, or diy?

Our ceremony and reception are going to be in Riverside.
I have made sure that my dress is light and I won't have to wear much under it, because the last thing I need to be doing is falling out during my own wedding! I am doing fans, even though the ceremony is in a chapel, I figured it might be nice for people to have because there will be sometime spent outside taking pictures. We are just ordering some sandalwood fans for the ladies, and the men will be getting handkerchiefs!
