Jojo

I saw the pic of your min pin on FB.  Lulu's face is the same as your dog's only the coloring is different.  Do you have full body pics?  When we got her they said she was a chi...we;re seriously starting to doubt that.  Everyone says she's min pin.

Google it and you can read the different comparisons on a min pin's leg and body size compared to a chihuahua's. There are a lot of chi's that look like min-pin's. I have one of each and I would just tell by the temperament of the dog.. min pins are "escape artists" and are more prone to getting in a bit of trouble, they are jumpers and she is just a "thicker skinned" dog than the chihuahua. Our chi is more loving and loyal and protective.. the min pin is loving, but only when she wants to be (and when she is she is the cutest little cuddler). I've done research on both dogs and I think you may be able to tell by their personalities and temperament.

There are also "pinchi's" which are an adorable mix of the two. They have them at furry face sometimes.

That just described Lu (the suspected min pin) and Sammy our chi.  Lu has been escaping from our yard lately.  We've had to line the yard with cement by digging trenches and burying them under the fence line.  The girl has escaped twice and gotten stuck under the fence trying to escape twice already.  The one time she made a real run for it she tried to keep going when Andrew spotted her.  She's the wild and adventerous one of the 2.  The vet called her the "emotional one".

Sammy is the calm and more loving one (meaning she's always loveable in comparison).  She is content to just hang out.  Lu on the other hand has to always have whatever it is Sam has and barks until she gets it even if she has one or 10 of her own.  Sammy usually just gives in.

I'll look up the two breeds and see what Lu is...but the girl has the markings of a pin and looks exactly like the dobey we had growing up.

OMG!  I'm reading up on min pins.  Lu HAS to be one.  It's describing her pretty much to the "t".  I have to measure her though

If you find any hole or opening big enough to put your hand through - your Min Pin will find a way to fit through also

They think they are big dogs and they can get themselves into trouble.

"It's like living with a roomful of toddlers who never grow up"  - I say this all the time

they tend to be dominant breed type.

    THIS!

Min Pins love to snuggle with their people. They will burrow under covers to go to sleep.

Haha yeah I call them forts. Giada makes forts out of a lot of things. Their body types are different though, so I think if you look up pictures you can see the difference. Giada's arms are very long and skinny. I'll post pics later. Our chi sleeps under the covers too, but Giada makes a little area where the covers hang over. She's really strange and funny and what I would give to figure out what is going on in that brain of hers.

We have our backyard sealed up tight with wiring from lowes, but she always goes into the neighbors yard at my in-laws (who have the same wiring on their wrought iron but she still gets through) and she is not phased by their dogs one bit and they are bigger than her. She thinks she is a big dog and has no idea how tiny she is.
We have gates up at our house and she is constantly moving them.. I don't know if it's a breed difference or just my dogs but Dolce (the chihuahua) uses her nose to move things and Giada uses her paws like arms.

Well, that would be cool we'd have the same type of dogs!

I've said it before, make sure you are reading about deer heads (if sam is a deerhead) because appleheads are a different temperament.

Nervmind I found a better site that describes chi's.  Much better.

    Ear lickers...def Sam!

I can't tell with Sam.  She seems to be a mix of a deer head and apple.  She doesn't quite fit in either category.

The fort thing is funny!  Lu will put her face in the crease of your elbow, armpit, anywhere there's shelter.  If we have a blaneet she goes right on under and makes her self comfy.  Sammy is content to fluff a space for her and sit on top of it.

The big dog thing is funny!  That's how Lu is.  Well, not so much anymore.  A big dog put her in check so now she' a little more heitant to start jumping on them but once she notices they are nice dogs she's hopping around harassing them again.

Lu likes to inspect the gates and barriers we have up and if she sees an opportunity to breach any of them she will barrel or wiggle her way through.  Sammy jumps over them!  LOL.

I will continue to research.  She may not be a pure bread min pin but she definitely has very strong traits.
