DJs and Videographers

Ok ladies I need your help! We have our venue, we have our photographer, next stop DJ and videographer. Any suggestions? Trying to save money but still get good quality. Who are you using and how much are you paying? Thanks!

I'm actually using Celebration Photography, they have both Video and Photo. So I packaged my deal to save a little money. As far as DJ's go, I don't even know who my DJ is, it's someone that the venue uses for their night club. My suggestion would be to go to a bridal show, most the time you can get plenty of DJ pricing there. My Photo & Video is $2300 for 6 hours of coverage, 2 photographers and 1 videographer. My entertainment is $400 for two hours of a guitarist and $400 for two hours of DJ.

Man!  Celebration keeps on calling and bugging!!!! I was going to go with them until I read their reviews, it had too many bad/ horrible reviews for me to feel comfortable. They had good reviews too, but almost half were bad ones, so I was uncomfortable with that. Plus they send out different photographers to your engagement shoot , wedding  shoot, and boudoir session (if you are having it) It just seemed to impersonal. I want my photographer to know what I want, not just some random person showing up to take pics of stuff I don't want. They called yesterday too... plus they're in Fullerton! <----RANTY I know LOL!
As for now, I am doing a TRIAL engagement session with Tom Herron from Redlands. That's where I'm getting married and he knows the area very well. If I don't like the pics, then my photographer search will continue. He's only charging me $100 for the engagement session. H has some amazing packages too, price wise. He has this package for 7 hours for $1200. You don't get any prints though, just a disc. If you want prints, he has packages for that too. He is economy friendly, and he takes some nice pictures. He's not the best photographer I have seen, but for the price, he's good enough.
My dj was someone that I lucked up on. Hubby and I had went to Chilli's one night and we had an awesome waiter, turns out he was a professional dj and he worked at Chilli's on the side. His name is Jay Patterson from World Class Entertainment. He is one of the dj's at Edward's Mansion, but he does weddings outside of EM too. At the time, we were gonna go with EM for our wedding/ reception. EM charges you $600 for you to use their dj, only you wont know who that is until the day of. And then EM turns around and only pays the dj $300 of the $600 they charged you. So we had planned to tell EM we had our dj already, and then Jay was only gonna charge us $400, good deal for both of us. But then I changed the venue to The Mitten Building. Jay still offered to to charge us $400. How sweet of him! But I don't know if you can find anyone that cheap.  HTH!

I needed two seperate set ups and a block of 6 hours. He's charging me $895.00. What I really like about Fred though is how personable he is. He comes to your house and explains everything to you. He has a great online set up that makes music selection so easy. Also, he is always there when you need him, any questions you have....he answers them right away. I have nothing but positive things to say about him :)

I used Erick from After Dark Entertainment (we got married 03/20/10). We talked to John the owner and main DJ and he sent us Erick, his other DJ. We're actually super glad we had Erick over John. Erick was on top of things, kept the night running smoothly, very helpful and personable. We had so many compliments from people about him. We were charged $1200 for 7 hours of music, 10 uplights color of our choice, a gobo with our names on it and amazing service. I think he was by far our best vendor!!!

The DJ at VIP Events in Canyon Lake is only around $700. We might use him cause his prices are so good. Here is his website http://www.myvipevent.com/

As far as videographers go we haven't looked too hard. VIP Events has one but I didn't like his work. We recently talked with Julian Gonzalez and he quoted me around $875 if I remember correctly. I haven't gottent the chance to see his stuff in person...only on his website. Here is his website http://weddingmemoriesvideography.com/Home.html

Duude. I feel so poor right now. Our entire wedding budget is about $2,000. We had a dj who charged about $100 an hour but then we found out she double booked. I've been looking on craigslist.com and have found some reeeally affordable ones(like 5 hours for $185) but I haven't met with any of them yet so I don't know the quality yet. I'll keep you updated if you like.
