and now I'm sad about it
Yesterday I was out running errands with my girls. Driving on a very busy road - I spot an animal coming up over a landscaping burm (or is it berm? eh who cares - HILL), I first thought it was a deer. But then quickly realized it was a German Shepherd doggie.
In my rearview I can see him trotting along - not too close to the road, but close enough - and no owner.
So as soon as we could (middle lane 50+mph traffic) we turned around. Found him hanging around behind an italian restaurant. The manager was out there and had called the cops already. So I parked and went to try and help corral the dog.
He came when called, and when a cook came out with a handful of bacon? he was so easy! Sadly - he had a collar but no tags! So we had to let the cops take him when they arrived. My girls both were begging me to take him home. But alas I can't have a big dog at this point.
He was a beauty though - purebred GSD, male (not fixed), relatively young (maybe a year) great markings and a wonderful temperment. Hopefully he is chipped and the owner can be found. I imagine someone paid a lot of money for him and here he is wandering around at the mall.
Anyway - I know we did the right thing - but boy did I want to bring him home with me! sigh...
