Took on one last DIY

I have 12 days to go, all was done and I was home bored and sick, so what does this crazy bride do? She takes on one last huge DIY project. I am now hot gluing 1850 silk rose petals to 50 feet of 6 inch wide tulle, to be split and to lay along each side of my aisle. I love the look, but our ceremony is outside, and with 12 bridesmaids and groomsmen, 2 flower girls, and me in my HUGE dress in the middle of two sons walking me down the aisle, or any type of breeze, the row of petals would look like crap by the end. So, I decided to glue them on the tulle, to make it easy to set up, and take down, and stay looking good in the process.

Sigh... I have 1 foot done so far and needed a break. My neck and back aches already for leaning over the table.

Here is my inspiration

Here is what mine looks like so far

Re: Took on one last DIY

  • But you have to press the petal down with the hot glue, the tulle is thin and has holes, so nthe glue goes thru and sticks to anything underneath. In fact after ruinning a towel, scrapping clumps off my coffee table, I am now using a cookie tray.

Thanks DOT are you trying to get me to hot glue an aisle runner to my door, lol SHEESH woman! lol

Lucy, the blue is tons of Royal Blue petals

  • :) I am doing it while lounging on the couch watching movies. In between naps and taking drugs. Is that better? AND I am doing it slowly over the next 12 days lol

I sure luv you gals lol
  • DOT you are stalking me! How did you know? lol

OK OK, I will rest, then wait and have people come help me finish.

    Deal?
  • It is going to look awesome though!

but yeah - like everyone else said - get some rest wouldya?

and now i'm thinking about something like this for myself...

    damnit woman!
  • lol sorry kelly.

It's hard work, and I burned myself repeatedly, but it will be gorgeous and soooo easy to set up and clean up. Not like I should care, it's the venues and wedding planners job, not mine LOL

Exactly! The runner would be a nice idea, if you had 12 weeks to go, not 12 days. Get back in bed. Please, please don't end up in the hospital. Please!
  • HUGE wake up call, so here is an update on this project and my illness.

    1. I feel a lot better, but I know to still take it easy and rest and take all my meds.

    2. I walked in the living room, saw my 10 feet of aisle runner done, and the 40 left to do, and then and there I decided to rip the petals off, put them in the bag with the other 1700, and let the coordinator sprinkle them as I want.

I have 12 days left, meetings everywhere with DJ, Photographer, Venue, get hair done, massage, body wrap and tanning and pedicure and manicure. Grad party Sunday, and wrap two huge poster frames in satin and print out all the cards for the seating chart, then decorate that. Not to mention clean out my guest room that is packed to the ceiling with wedding stuff, to make room for my niece that is coming from Florida to be a bridesmaid and house sit for us. Oh, and pack for my honeymoon.

    Whew, I feel better now.
  • Where are all these brides'maids'? Are they doing anything for you at all? Why aren't they helping with the DIY stuff? Go to bed...DRINK 100% CRANBERRY JUICE, water and clean your toothbrush (while your trying to get over the infection, you don't want to keep putting germs back in your mouth!!) Stop being Wonder Woman...FI already knows what he's got!!! GET YOUR REST!!!

Oh thank goodness! Now I don't have to do it! :)

    Rest and fluids!

Don't make me wag my finger at you missy!
  • lol too funny.

Out all my DIY the only help I've had was the last of the programs and gluing ribbon on the vases. I live 45 minutes from them all and no one has come to help, all too busy, or can't afford the gas.

One is in Florida, one is my daughter that is a newlywed with 3 kids. 2 others work far away from me and have kids, and the other tow I barely know, but wanted a balanced number of groomsmen to bridesmaids

It's ok, really, I love doing it, and kinda a control freak and perfectionist anyway lol
