Hi Everyone!
I have been on TK for some time but have mainly been on my local and wedding month boards...decided that it would be nice to meet y'all as well, seeing how much fun you seem to have- have enjoyed reading your posts! I am 43, my FI is 39...we are getting married 5-4-12, and have been together almost 4 years now. This is not my first marriage but it is his so, we are doing the whole big wedding thing (on his request). We anticipate about 125 guests and our venue is outdoors, with a gazebo for our ceremony and a very large pavilion for the reception.
As for the cake...it will be buttercream frosting with just a touch of fondant (I am not a fan of fondant at all!), with two flavors - Italian cream and tiramisu. It's more of an elegant cake and fits our style for the wedding. The picture is the basic concept for my design but I had to change the colors to show what I want for the wedding so, it's not the best version for details. The buttercream will be ivory, the fondant will be black, the outlining will be ivory/black...and then we are adding about 12 hydrangea blue butterflies that will cascade down the front of the cake along the leaves.
I had my invitations created to match the cake and everything else in the wedding is inspired by the clean, elegant look of things. I will have a splash of butterflies throughout my reception but not overdone in any way.
