We've Been Blogged

One of the things that I was most looking forward to during the whole wedding planning process was the engagement photos.  I wanted some nice photos of the FI and I.  Everytime we take a photo I tell him to smile and his reply is always "I am, on the inside".  I saw him smile this particular day for 2.5 hours straight AND he lived through it (the most I have seen him smile in the almost 4 years I have known him).  So, I am going to regress to my 20-something self and share the blog post with you.

  • Awww...those are great!  I love the one on the ground. But the bike is very cool too--that one where the color pops out of the b&w image is excellent. I love that kind of shot.

So when are you getting your motorcycle license? I have one Wink

  • memSomerville, I wil not be getting a motorcycle license.  I am perfectly fine on the back with no responsibility what so ever other than the occassional lean and to look cute.  Me and things with only two wheels don't see eye-to-eye.  I can not think of a time in my life when I was on a bike and did not crash at some time.  Even a few years back, I was on a liesurely ride out in the countryside of Argentina and I fell off the damn bike (coerced by co-workers/friends and it ended up being a 37 mile ride--ain't nothing leisure about that in my world!!).

More power to all you ladies that have there own bike.  I love being on the back roads and the rural state highways.  Still nervous on the major highways with three or four lanes--people drive crazy!!!

  • Beautiful!  You two look great.  :)

    Love is the ultimate superpower.
It can make you weak and strong simultaneously.

  • Paige...

Can't go wrong with a Navy Chief - I have one too!  Mine's retired though.  :)  Great pics!!

  • IslandBeach--my chief is retired as well.  I always wanted a military man (Dad was career Army) and I finally found one.  Two weeks before he retired!!  Ha--I have never had a good sense of timing.

OMG...LMAO!  I always wanted a man in uniform & guess what - soon as we found each other, he retired.  Dammit!  Mine did 22 yrs and was stationed on the west coast & Japan.  I have a confession though, - he was my jr high boyfriend -well for a summer anyway.  So I've know him since I was 14.   Funny how love finds a way.

And I have to ask - lol.  Do you do the half, then 1/3 tee shirt fold or the roll? Tongue out

  • DotDash -- thanks for the compliment on the hair.  It was a necessary evil.  At least according to the FI.  He is not a fan of short hair (however, I am) but I had to cut it really super short just before Christmas because I had major shoulder surgery and was not going to be able to fix it for 2 months.

IslandBeach-- are you referring to packing or just folding in general.  If packing, I roll.  But I learned that from my days in the foreign service traveling around the globe having to pack for multiple climates.  If in general, I just tuck the arms in and fold in half.  My FI spent many years on the west coast and a few in Japan as well.  When did your FI retire?

  • Paige,

He retired in 2008 - he taught school in S. Diego the last few years; boilers & nuke...I think.

  • IslandBeach - Your comment about marrying your jr high boyfriend made me smile. I'm in the same boat. Prince Charming was my first love - I was a freshman in high school, he was a junior. (Can it really be 25 years ago?? Smile) But we hadn't spoken in over 20 years when he found me on Classmates.com last fall. How did you guys get back in touch?

Paige - Your photos are beautiful.

    Misplaced....

He sent me an email about 10 yrs after I was married (he was single at the time) I said the "Hi, I'm happily married" line. He found me on my h.s. website. lol!   He would email me every few years to touch base.  Well, my ex took a job transfer back home (without even asking me, so I knew the marriage was in the toilet - 19yrs) Moved back home & divorced within a year of the move.  My oldest was checking into military branches and I knew he was a recruiter - or had been  so...I sent him an email (fully expecting it to be a bad email address or get no response) to see if he could stear the kid in the right direction.  Well, come to find he was in the process of moving back home and also going through a divorce.  And here we are.....4 months from the big day.  Funny thing is - when I moved away from "home" for about 17 years, he was the recruiting supervisor for the area - even went to recruit at my kids h.s.  and I would swear I ran across him at the grocery store.  We both did a double take with each other but didn't say anything. .  I just chalked it up to "there is NO way possible that was Him".  I still dont know if it was for sure but we both remember thinking we had seen a look a like for each other at a grocery store. Hmmm.  Life has a way.....

  • IslandBeach -- wow, my FI was a recruiter as well for a few years.  He was down in south Texas though.  His rating was Signalman for most of his career and when they did away with that rating he became a Boatswain's Mate.  We met purely by chance (and with the help of a few ladies on my soccer team), but we discovered that we were in a lot of the same places around the same time.  He was on a float in South East Asia at the same time I was living there and working for the US Govt.  Not sure if we ever physically crossed paths but he was one of the first guys that was not intimidated by my history of travel and independence and we could talk about all the places we had both been.
