What are you looking forward to this holiday season?

I don't know! I can't believe it is December already. We normally go visit family and friends in New Orleans. This year, we haven't planned anything.

This is the first Christmas since 2006 that my son will be home instead of Japan, so I'm really looking forward to tree trimming and doing some shopping with him.

We are hosting Christmas this year for our families. I am taking up the traditions that my Grandmother did...food wise especially since she was a Home Economics teacher. I'm using the china I got from my Mom as a wedding gift (first marriage) that my Dad gave her. He bought it in Japan when he was in the Air Force during vietnam. I have never had an "excuse" to use it. I bought a flatware set to match off craigslist for $60 and got stemware at BB&B for $40 total (Not crystal, but "Nice" glassware.)

We are doing a gift exchange and then watching Bill cosby "Himself" This is a memory of when I was in High School and this was an HBO special on Christmas day and my Dad (who passed in 2004) laughed so hard he was crying. So this is another tie in of one of my favorite people in my life.

I made cookies yesterday with the kids. It was a BLAST. Chocolate chip, oatmeal with dried cranberries and walnuts and sugar cut-outs. My oldest daughter has her forst "boyfriend" (Lord give me strength) and he came over and cut out cookies with Victoria and her little sister. We'll do another "round" of cookies for the family get together.

We will go to the farm this coming weekend to get the two Christmas trees and put them up...

It is getting cold here and we've had a fire every night in the fireplace - another favorite thing for me. Eggnog with a dab of Wild Turkey...warmth down the throat.

That's what I'm looking forward to...

Spending the season with my FI!  Maybe that sounds corny, but I have not had someone to enjoy it with for over two decades!

Looking forward to my first grandbaby arriving.  The doctor said ANY DAY NOW so we're really excited and the waiting is killing us.  (She's actually due Christmas eve.)  We won't go anywhere because we want to be local when it happens so we're just anticipating...

All my family together.  Last year, the daughters and grandson were in Hawaii and DH was in WV with his dad (in the hospital after a bad fall with head injury)  J is 18 months old, so it should be a good time.  And I was on call Christmas Eve--I live out of call range, so I couldn't even go to the Christmas Eve service.

We are going to the Christmas Eve service and again Christmas morning.  I don't think I can remember going to church on Christmas morning and am looking forward to it.

I am looking forward to my son's homecoming from college (he's a freshman).  I know, based on my habits when I came home during my semester breaks, he'll be in/out and I'll rarely see him during waking hours, but that's okay.  As long as we get to have dinner together at least twice/week, I'll be happy.
