St. Augustine Brides???

Hey everyone!

I'm newly engaged as of 5/11 - DF and I were on vacation in St. Augustine (we're from CT) and he proposed at the top of the St. Augustine lighthouse.  His parents are snowbirds who have spent their winters in St. Augustine for the last 6 or so years...and we have visited together 3 times now and its a very special place to us.

We're strongly considering a destination wedding to St. Augustine, and I'd love to hear your St. Augustine wedding!  Where was the ceremony/reception/size of your wedding?  If we went this way, we'd probably end up with around 50 people heading to FL and then having a party/reception when we return to CT!

Just wondering how possible this all is and how you felt about your St. Augustine wedding!  :)

Thanks!!!

St. Augustine has quite a few ceremony and reception venues that are very pretty.

I was married at the White Room Loft, ceremony on the rooftop and reception inside. It was beautiful but the White Room was a PITA to work with.

Some other places to consider would be

The Lighhouse! You can get married on their grounds!

    The Goverment House Museum

    There are plenty more!

I'll be getting married at the Amore Wedding Chapel which is located within the Lightner Museum.  They have been easy to work with and very friendly.  Their chapel holds up to 50 people.  They also have a beautiful courtyard which holds many more guests.  My reception will be at The Tasting Room (holds up to 60 guests), and I cannot say enough how amazing they have been so far with the planning.  They will bend over backwards to make me happy and the food there is absolutely delicious!!!
I originally wanted the Colombia Restaurant but they already had someone booked (we had  a very short engagement).  Anyway, turns out my restuarant is closing for us and Colombia was not, so it's all that much more special!
    Good Luck!!

If you have money to burn, the Casa Monica Hotel is gorgeous and super luxurious! I will be getting ready here and taking pics prior to the ceremony here.  Can't wait!!!

We had about 50 guests and chose the Government House (the ceremony was outside in the courtyard and the reception was inside the sala room).  There are plenty of pictures in my married bio if you want to see what it looks like!  The link is in my siggy.  I can't recommend it enough!  Catherine, the site manager, was wonderful to work with.  She was really flexible and willing to let us do almost anything we wanted :).  Their prices are very reasonable (among the cheapest in St. Aug... The Casa Monica was our dream location, but I'm glad now that we didn't blow all of our money on that lol).

Like others, the Casa Monica was my dream choice - but we couldn't afford! I'm getting married in the Lightner Museum Courtyard with the reception at the Sanchez House - on the Fourth of July!!

The awesome St. Augustine fireworks will be part of our reception.

There is also the San Sebastian Winery, haven't been there yet though. I went and looked at The White Room, it was really nice.

We are getting married at the Bayfront Mansion on Water Street. We are renting the entire house for 3 nights, which is perfect, because immediate family coming from out of town are staying there / paying for the rooms. There is no additional rental cost and it is just beautiful. The downside (or upside, depending how you look at it) is that you have to bring everything in - DJ, Caterer, Tables/chairs, etc. but with such an awesome blank slate, I think it will be wonderful. Plus it ends up being cheaper when you can shop around!

I live in MA, and we're looking at the Casa Monica for an October 2012 wedding. I think as long as you give people enough notice, so they can plan and save, everyone important to you will be there!
