GO! We're going w/ buttercream...but FI wanted fondant (until he knew the price difference.) My baker clearly prefers fondant b/c it gives him more room for decorating creativity...but I hate the way it tastes. I know it's not really meant to be eaten and the baker said that the caterers will many times just pull it off before it's served. However, I just couldn't see spending $100 extra dollars on something that's just there for show for an hour or two and then gets pulled off and thrown in the trash. It definitely makes beautiful cakes though. I almost caved and went w/it just b/c of the decorating aspect, but I'm trying to cut corners and this seemed like a good area to save some money. How about you?
