Holy Expensive Alterations!

I knew I was going to "overpay" by going to DB for my alterations. Since I don't have a relationship with a seamstress and there doesn't seem to be a lot of options in Pensacola I sucked it up and went today. It was fun standing on the podium looking at me in my dress with all of those mirrors. It was not, however fun when I was told $249... now that is for my wedding dress and my rehearsal dress, but still... holy jeez. Oh well... what can I do? I can't wear a dress thats hanging off of me!

Uuugghhh...I'm dreading this. I already blew my dress budget. Try and just think about how fabulous you'll look! ;)

What all are you having done? My dress (granted it was out here in Los Angeles) was about $360. I had the hem, bustle, bodice taken in with many layers of boning, cups sewn in, and a veil made. If you got about the same thing as me (minus the veil) it sounds just about right.

Holy wowzers. I'd find someone else, that's just a tad bit ridiculous. I mean I don't have a whole lot being done except a hem (but I have a pick up dress) steaming, an extra hook for my bustle, spot cleaning,  fixing the inside of the boning (2nd hand dress) and something else, I can't remember what else. Mine was sub 100.00

I guess in the scheme of things it's not a bad price.  I'm having it taken in and out and the halter adjusted.  I'm having a ballroom bustle with 4 extra loops.  They're adding material in the back so the dress sits right.  On the rehearsal dress I'm having it taken in and something about a princess seam.

My dress was very intricate, I needed the sides taken in, train cut off and bottom hemmed, straps adjusted, bust area adjusted, all with lace and beads. This was about $350 for me.

I used to sell wedding gowns in Pensacola, and unfortunately you're about right with the price if you want to have your alterations done at a bridal shop. My only suggestion is to take your dress to a smaller shop and see if you can get a better deal. Two Times a Lady on Olive does alterations, also.

alexa- thanks for the info about Two Times a Lady, unfortunatly I've already left the dresses with DB and paid them. I'll keep them in mind for anything in the future.
