Cliff Addy - thought you should know

Hey, I haven't posted anything before, but I've definitely been reading since I got engaged three months ago. My fiance and I were looking for a photographer and were about to sign with Cliff Addy. A day before signing the contract with Cliff my finace and I get this email: "I'm sorry, but I've become uncomfortable in the idea of photographing your wedding. I just don't think we'll be a good fit. I've learned to trust my feelings on things like this and I don't get a good feeling about us working together. I hope you find a suitable photographer soon" We had a few questions regarding the contract, but apparently he didn't feel he needed to clarify anything. I can't vouch for his photographic skills, but I'm happy now because I went with my first choice and know I'll get what I want. Just wanted to let y'all know...

I had the same thing happen with one of my photographers.  It ended up working out for the best.

That's kind of strange but at least you get your first choice now. You should post more often!

I also met with him and it was the opposite- although his pictures are absolutely amazing, we didn't feel comfortable working with him. He says that he brings his daughter as his assistant photog so if he feels that things are getting "crazy" at all, he will take his daughter and leave. Not a chance we wanted to take.

This guy sounds like a joke and I think you all dodged a bullet. Welcome to the board! Tell us more about yourself and the wedding.

Yeah Navy. I hope no one takes offense to this, but they are a very conservative religious family. We found his comment really strange. He really made a point to say that if people got too drunk, wild, etc, he would leave. Uhmmm.. sorry but I don't want to have to stress about my wedding photog leaving in the middle of the reception. His pictures really are gorgeous, but that was just not worth it.

Ummm...then leave your daughter at home and have a real assistant! Do I get any money back if you're lame and leave??? This guy has issues. OP- Maybe you guys came off as really inappropriate and raunchy and you scared him. (That of course was a joke.)

Wow, that is just... bizarre. "I've become uncomfortable with the idea of photographing your wedding"??? And he brings his daughter as a chaperone and excuse to leave if it gets too "wild"? Wackoooooo.

Haley, I tried to be nice and tell you in a nice way that I didn't want to work with you and leave it at that.  Since you've decided to be publicly ugly about it, I'll tell you straight out that after talking with you some more, I felt that you were childish, mean-spirited, petty, and an extreme cheapskate who would be a nightmare to work with.  So I decided to pass.

There was no harm done, we had no contract and only a few days passed between our meeting and my telling you I wasn't interested.  I'm sorry you decided to get nasty about it and I really hate that I have been forced to respond to you in a public forum.

Hmm.... Similar thing happened to me just recently.  Got ready to sign the contract with Cliff and everything...He advised us to give him a call, so he could go over the contract with us.  We called and emailed multiple times within 3-4 week timeframe, but NO RESOPONSE...  I would've appreciated a response, so i could've started looking for another photographer!  And No, i was not rude or mean spirited (as he stated above about the other person).  Actually, I wouldn't have even felt the need to post this on a forum, but i'm pretty upset about it...if only I had gotten a response, I would've understood, but i got NOTHING!
As if wedding planning isn't stressing enough, we still get vendors that dont respond...i always wonder, are they really trying to get our business???
