hey guys I'm doing a winter wonderland themed wedding in the jacksonville area in jan 2011 and I'm having the hardest time finding a good place to have a reception. Does anyone have any reccomendations or ideas of where to look?

Does it have to be Jax? Beacuse, anywhere in St. Augustine could be nice. They do the night of lights around that time of year. A lot of our brides have planned their weddings during that time and it's really pretty. Look at The White Room, Casa Monica and The Government House.

Also, what are you looking for exactly? How many people? What kind of budget? Where have you already looked? All of these things will help us in our suggestions.

hey its for about 150 people. our total budget is10000 to 12000 for the total wedding. I've looked some places because we really liked a church in st augustine but my parents nixed the white room b/c of the whole parking situation. The shuttle isnt running from the garage and both our grandparents are really old. we want to look at club contintental but that's about the only other option we have come up with so any help would be awesome!!

Well there's The Cummer Museum (where I'm getting married.) PIB. The rental fee is pretty high...but depending on what you do w/food and alcohol (you can bring in whoever you want) it might work w/your budget. If you like Club Continental you might also like the Ribault club. Again the rental is high. There are also a million different hotels and Country Clubs around town. The Casa Marina at the beach is beautiful...but if you want a Sat evening wedding their food minimum might be too high. You could double check though b/c you'll be in "off season." I've also heard that Palm Valley gardens is gorgeous (a bride recently posted pics of her wedding there) but again, I think the rental fee is probably pretty similar to the Cummer and the Ribault club. Good luck!

you may also want to check out the garden club (next to the cummer). I think its pretty reasonable and you can bring in your own caterers/bartenders. if you are looking at doing bar service we used a bartending service called oliver twist that supplied the staff - glassware- and mixers and we supplied the alcohol... it saved us a ton of money on the bar!

There are a few nice venues on Amelia Island, just north of Jax.  The ones I've checked out are: The Oyster Bay  Yacht Club ($2500) and the Amelia Island Plantation, which has several nice locations.  Both venues require you to use their catering.  If you know someone who lives in the Plantation, they can "sponsor" you and it's only $500 for the whole day and you can bring your own vendors.
