RSVP?

So lately I've had a bunch of different people give me different information on what they believe the term RSVP stands for in terms of what action you're supposed to take when that's written on an invitation. This really surprised me (to the point where I looked it up to make sure I was right). So...did you know the correct action to take when you received an invitation that said RSVP before you started planning your wedding?

I definitely did just because my mother is very very strict about RSVPing, thank you cards, etc.

I definitely did.  Shoot, I received invitations throughout grade school that said RSVP on them.

@Navy- You would think that people knew what it meant, but apparently not. A lot of people think that it means you only call if you're coming and some think it means you only call if you're not coming.
