Florida-North Florida

Introduction: New...but not new.

Hi, ladies!

I am not new to TK but I am new to the North Florida boards. We have been engaged for (almost) a year and originally set a date of November 26th to get married where we live (Atlanta). But far too many choices and not enough...something...lead me back home to Tallahassee.

Since there is NO WAY I'd get married during a FAMU or FSU football weekend, we moved our date up to November 20th (2010). And we're getting married where I always dreamt I would...my mom's backyard! Smile

I will have a million questions and hope I can answer some along the way!

Welcome!  I agree that it was very smart to make sure your date wasn't on a game day.

Have you chosen any vendors yet?  A couple of us (including me) are newlyweds in Tallahassee that could help you.

Thank you for the welcome, ladies! Smile I grew up in Tallahassee. I KNOW how crazy it gets when either team is in town. LOL! I'm a huge football fan but my FI's family wouldn't be too keen on the idea.

Navy- I only have my photographers. I am very fortunate that I have three friends that are professional photographers! They have graciously agreed to do all the photos for our wedding for (almost) free. Since they now have to travel to Florida, one has asked for travel and lodging. The other...only for lodging for 1-2 nights. And they are both doing their full service, top level package! :-)

I have been in touch with Cypress Restaurant and Klassic Katering but haven't met with either yet. I was hoping that I would have heard from Mozaik (one of my faves) or Georgio's, but so far I haven't received a return e-mail. (Not a good sign I know)

I have started looking at the websites for Florists but I'm not even close to making a decision on those. I grew up with my family going to Artistic for EVERYTHING (weddings, funerals, parties, etc) but I know there are so many more choices now than in previous years.

I contacted The Music Machine and requested my date with Vaughn Wilson. I'm not sure if he'll be available that weekend but he's the only DJ I'm familiar with for the vibe we're going for. I did receive a confirmation email but have yet to speak with them directly yet. (I'm thinking that I will ask the DJ we hire to also do our ceremony music)

    FI's uncle is our officiant.

Oh... And I've been in touch with Terri at Silver Lining linens but we haven't scheduled a firm date to meet yet.

We need a rental company for a tent and dancefloor and I can't make heads or tails of who is actually local from the internet.

I appreciate ANY and EVRY thing you can help me with!!!!!!

    Thank you again!

For a caterer, we used Cabell's American Bar and Grill.  It was absolutely delicious!

We used Posh Stems for our florist.  They don't have a shop, so their overhead is a lot lower, which means you get flowers a lot cheaper than a normal florist.

What are you wedding colors?  I'm currently selling some sage green linens.

I'm check them out! Thank you!!! :-)

Chocolate brown, burnt orange, champagne, and crimson. It sounds a little weird but the photo can help bring it all together, I think. Our palette is in my bio.

Actually, according to the Knot terms of service, if you are a vendor in a wedding related field, you are not permitted to discuss your employment or recommend your employer. Please refrain from doing so in the future.

It isn't whatever, it's the rules. And now I'm deleting all the posts about this topic. Thanks for understanding and for your future compliance.

I think I may have a the same problem with the whole game day thing.  I live in Gainesville and it gets really Gator-crazy in the fall.  It's good that you were able to move your date.  :)
