First Dance

What's everyone doing for their first dance song?  Any cool or unique ones?

We are considering Ray LaMontagne (sp?) - "You are the best thing" or we just were recommened a Blue October song called "18th Floor Balcony" which is kinda cool, would be nice as an acoustic version

"You're the Best Thing" is our song and we're using it for our first dance. I thought it was unique, but you're not the first person I've heard of using it as well. Oh well... I love it! My second runner up is "Stunning Mystery Companion" by Jackson Browne. I love the acoustic version for dancing in the kitchen. "Closer" by Keb' Mo' is good too, kind of bluesy, which I like. I hope you find the perfect song! Obviously I like your first choice.

I told FH I wasn't sure about the "You're the best thing" song because I thought it might be too popular.  He told me no one else even knew who that guy was let alone would they be using him for their wedding song. I asked a couple of my friends and they had never heard of him, so I think it is at least somewhat unique.  Those are suggestions are totally unique though, never heard of them, and much harder to find on you tube.

we're using "like the rain" by clint black. FI picked it. He said it always used to remind him of me. I thought that was really sweet. So far, I haven't heard of anyone else using this song.

We're dancing to "The Story" by Brandi Carlile. It's "our" song and we just love it. We're going to take dance lessons at ASU before the wedding so we have something nice and kinda choreographed.

We did "Have a Little Faith in Me" by Mandy Moore.

"Then" by Brad Paisley. I wavered between that and "The Luckiest" by Ben Folds, but this won out.

We're dancing to 'The First Day of My Life' by Bright Eyes.  It's "our song", and it's really sweet.  It's also not too long so the guests don't have to sit through an length dance.

I am still not sure what we will do ours to. I think we are leaning toward "Smile" by Uncle Cracker but I really hate his name and I don't know if I want to say "Uncle Cracker" is the artist who sang our first dance. I know that sounds silly but his name bothers me. Haha....

We're dancing to "When You Say Nothing At All" by Allison Kraus.  It's rather fitting for us as my FI uses more non-verbal methods of communicating.  It's also a really sweet song.  We were debating between that and "Take My Breath Away".  Another good first dance song (depending on the genre you like) is "Lost in the Moment" by Big and Rich.
