Candles vs Flowers the debate continues

Hi All : ) Ok, so I posted a little while ago with the question of whether or not to do flowers or a nice candle display. I asked for some suggestions on candle arrangements and got some great ideas. I just wanted to post one more time and see what you all thought about my decision of Candles vs Flowers. Should I try to make a classy candle display or opt for a small arrangement of flowers? What do you think would go over better? Thanks so much : )

I think it matters what type of place you are having your reception. We are having candles but that is because we actually need the light. If you have a very well lit space where you can't enjoy candle light, you would probably just want to use flowers.

Hello! It really depends on your budget and like PP said, you can find nice flowers for an affordable price (well it depends what your budget is, again:)). I love flowers, so I'm going to have lots of them, but I will also have small candles around the vases. I think I got a really good price on my flowers. If you want more info, let me know and I can give you the prices and types of flowers I ordered. Also, I cut the cost by deciding to do arrangements myself (with the help of family). Good luck and keep us posted on what you decide :)

It REALLY depends on the look you are going for and your personal preference. I am not a big fan of flowers.  That was our reasoning against having them.  Candle displays can be done very well, but make sure they are encased in class so that you don't drip wax or set anything on fire accidentally.  If you are going for a very romantic evening feel, I would do the candles.  If it's a gardeny type of whimsical feel, you might go with the floral arrangements.

One thing to keep in mind is where your venue is.  Some places will NOT allow open flames.   I have seen small mirrors on the table with a glass container on top of it filled with colored marbles/rocks and then floating candles in your wedding colors inside.  You can dress up the container any way you like, with ribbons, flowers etc...and they look really nice and are pretty inexpensive if you do everything yourself and know where to get the stuff   (sounds like I should be a wedding planner myself LOL)

I am doing candles, mostly for budget reasons. I found a great resource: www.quickcandles.com
