Phoenican OR Arizona Grand Hotel

Hi Ladies,I'm considering having my DW in AZ.  I just fell in love with (via their websites) the Arizona Grand Hotel & the Phoenican.  Anyone have any feed back on these two?  Still waiting to see the prices for a dinner recption so if it's too pricey i'll easily fall out of love with them!

I don't know pricing on either.  But consider the Phoenician is one of the nicest resorts in the valley, I would presume it to be quite expensive.  But it's absolutely beautiful.  It's one of my favorite hotels here.  Don't know anything about the Arizona Grand though.

The Arizona Grand used to be the Point South Mountain, if that helps with anyones feedback for her.  My sorority had a formal at the Arizona Grand and they left a really bad taste in my mouth, they made our DJ turn off his music at 9pm because it was bothering the guests and made us leave at 11pm (even though we had it booked until midnight) because they felt that we were being to loud in general.  I realize it was a sorority function, but I would be concerned that they would shut down the wedding or make you turn down the music just because it was to loud for guests. Both are pretty hotels, but pp is correct when saying that the Phoenician is one of the nicest hotels and therefore will be much more expensive.  Based on other places I looked that are similar to the Phoenician, the f&b minimums there are probably around $20-25k.  If that is in your budget though, the Phoenician is wonderful.

LOL! 20-25K is not my budget so i'll keep looking! I'm just trying to find a nice resort to have my ceremony & reception that is about $100pp

A lot of the hotels are cutting deals right now.  A friend of mine called up Camelback resort, and they offered her quite a deal.  She then took that number and called other resorts in the area to see if they would price match.  Apparently a lot were willing to compromise. Don't give up on your dream place!

Just keep checking around :)  The JW Marriott is also really nice and probably a little cheaper.

I actually went out to see Arizona Grand and fell in love with it!!! Being that we want to keep costs low, I couldn't have my wedding there because of the costs.. However that's where my "dream" wedding would have been... But as long as I marry the guy I love, anywhere I marry him I'm happy...

Gorgeous -- that is an awesome outlook!  It's exactly the mentality that gets so easily lost when planning a wedding.  You're planning for a marriage, not just one day!  At the end of the wedding, the thing you are going to be most happy about and remember the most is the person standing next to you.

Arizona Grand has different owners now, so please do not let my review stop you from looking! It is beautiful, and if you talk to them just make sure they will not do to you what they did to us!

I actually got an email today from the Arizona Grand offering a free fruit and cheese platter with any wedding/reception booked- so if you want it, it's yours! :)

Thanks to those that replied to my answer on here :) it's what we keep telling ourselves whenever we deal with wedding costs.. So that's been my little motto lately...
