Question about Arizona name change

Hi all,I went to get my marriage license today (in advance of my October wedding).  It looks like I'm supposed to sign it with my maiden name.  But a friend told me that when she signed her maiden name, it didn't allow her to change her last name to her husband's.  ?  Anybody know how you are supposed to sign the marriage certificate?  I want the name change process to be smooth...thanks for your help!Anne

I signed mine in my maiden name.  It is a legal document and you need to sign your legal name.  Since your name has not been changed yet, you need to sign in your maiden name.  I have no idea why she couldn't change her name???

Thanks for the feedback everyone.  So when you change your name in AZ, do you need some kind of "official" paperwork, or is the marriage certificate enough?Anne

You have to have a certified copy of your marriage license as well as have filled out a new SS-5 with the social security office. When you go to the office you'll need your completed SS-5, a photo ID, and proof of citizenship if they do not already have it on file for you.
