NWR but I am OUTRAGED

Because of the budget in Arizona, CPS will not go out and follow up on a case of sususpected abuse?! What are you Kiding me!!!!!! I called because 2 kids I know are fightened by their father, one had an ear infection so bad it was bleeding and the other is at puberty and was embaressed and told the father and his girlfriend to stop making fun of her about her bra and they tried to measure her she freaked out!!! Please tell me is there not something wrong there that cps should investagate. If you call the police they say call cps!!! WTF.Sorry Im outraged that my hard earned tax money is doing nothing for me at the moment! espically when kids are involved!

A slightly sneaky way around this....if the children report any of these things to any school official (a teacher, nurse, principal, etc) the school is required by law to report it AND cps is required to investigate.

CPS does not HAVE to investigate anything. I work in mental health and call CPS a few times a week. I have called on HORRIBLE abuse and neglect cases only to have nothing happen. I have had to hound supervisors and case managers to make a visit to a home and many times, they stop by once and say they tried. It also doesnt matter who makes the report. The only thing cps will follow up on is the lack of medical attention. It isnt illegal or abuse to be an arse to your kids. The emotional abuse has to be incredibly severe to get a follow up visit. And what your describing is NOT severe. It is, sadly, almost normal and happens more than you think.

Something to note as well, CPS recently did a significant layoff....so their existing caseworkers saw a SEVERE increase on their own caseloads. Not excusing CPS, but it's good to understand that their system is very understaffed and not supported as well as it could be. If you're upset about where your tax dollars are going, write a letter or make a phone call to your local legislature and tell them to support bills that support our families and children.

Yes...if you dont like what is happening VOTE for people who support mental health, education, ect. Our system is over stressed, the workers are underpaid, our caseloads are too high (CPS included). No one wants to pay for these things until it hits them or someone slips through the cracks and commits a crime.
