Shutterfly Guest Book

I am thinking of making a Shutterfly photo book to use at my guest book.  I am curious if anyone knows what ink can be used on those pages.  Sharpies, markers, pens?  I am concerned about smearing on the slick pages. My other idea was a scrapbook without page protectors but I cannot seem to find one.Any thought?

I was toying with this idea too after meeting with photographers who were going to charge me $300 for a guest book. The photograhers said they generally leave Sharpies for guests to sign the book because the pages are glossy (as they are on Shutterfly) & the ink doesn't smudge once it's dry. Shutterfly is giving a free book to users if you put it together by midnight tonight!!! I'm not sure if you have all your pics together yet, but even if you have pics of you & your fiance on hand it might be a good idea to put a book together to have as a keepsake or to display at your wedding reception. I just got the Shutterfly email last night so I'm getting on this tonight before the offer expires! Good luck!

I'm in the middle of making one right now with our engagement photos!  Have to love free!  Just so nervous about smearing.  Thank you for the info about Sharpies.  Maybe I'll have one of my junior attendants watch over the book and make sure it drys before someones hand smears the previous comments!  These little details are going to be the death of me!

I am doing the same thing.  I was thinking the thin sharpies, since they'll dry faster than the normal ones, and still write on glossy pages.

We did this- but ended up buying one from our photographer as well.I used our "My Publisher" book as my bridal shower guest book.  For our guest book from the photographer and my bridal shower book we used ultra fine point Sharpies.  They worked great!I have like 20 of them in assorted colors, if anyone wants them- you're welcome to them, you'd just have to either come get them from me at work (downtown scottsdale) or home (laveen).

Also try out MPIX. They have an option for non-glossy pages. We just got ours and I am in love! I have made several photobooks on Shutterfly and My Publisher, and while all of them were nice, I will stick with MPIX from now on. I think it looks a bit more professional than the others I have made (but maybe I just didn't know what I was doing with the first few!) Also, I created it online and it was at my house 2 days later!

Ladies so sorry to misinform you, but the promo goes until Wednesday, August 26th so you have plenty of time. The promo code is SUMMERBOOK & it's good for an 8x8 book that has a value of less than $30. Not bad! :o)

Thank you ladies! I will definitely check out MPIX.  I hadn't heard of it before but I know what you mean about wanting something a little more professional than SF.  As for the Shutterfly promo, go on to their website and create a profile.  Even if you don't use it often you will get great coupon offers.  Every month I get free photos (just pay shipping) and I have two free photo books so far.  Happy Planning.  I'm 3 weeks away~

I just received my Shutterfly guest book last friday for our November wedding.  I was pleasantly surprised at how well made it was - I have also received several comments on how great it looks.  We registered at Target a few weeks ago and received a $20 gift card to Shutterfly.  I hapenned to order the book at the time they offered free shipping on products over $50 (I ordered the 12x12 book with a couple of extra pages) so in the end the book only cost me about $40 and it arrived in a matter of a couple of days.  I cannot wait to get started on the wedding album next!  I have not looked into Mpix, but will check it out.  Overall, the Shutterfly book was a great value for a great product.
