getting a wax

I have never had a bikini or brazillian wax, but I would like to get one for our wedding/ honeymoon. Does anyone have a suggestion for a place that will make me feel the least embarrassed? Thank you so much!

I had never had anything waxed before my wedding, and I jumped right in with a brazillian at Bliss. SO not as bad as I thought it would be, and they're known for their waxes which is why I went with them when I discovered there's a Bliss in the W Hotel in Scottsdale. Ask for Kerry B - she's awesome, so professional, didn't make me feel uncomfortable and warned me at the parts where it would "really" hurt. Good luck!!

I had never had a brazillian before my wedding- and like you decided I'd like one for the wedding and honeymoon.  I went to Jamie at Dolce-Chandler.  She's awesome, and it was so not as bad as I thought it would be!

I am a bit shy when it comes to waxing (I've has some bad experiences) so I decided to go to my esthetician, Katie, who has been doing my facials for years. She's really sweet & makes you feel totally comfortable (you're not sitting on the table exposed while you wait & there's not dead silence during the wax). She's at Glow in Gilbert on Baseline & Val Vista & she charges about $25 for a bikini wax. If you'd like her contact info, email me at gogalina at aol dot com.

I have done several in the past and like Suddenly Slimmer day spa. They are very nice and don't make you feel out of place. Their prices are reasonable as well which is always a plus!

Have you ever heard of/considered sugaring? Its so much better than waxing in my opinion. I've been going to Jenny Webdale for over 3 years. She worked at a salon, then moved to a woman's clinic & now for the past year she's been doing sugaring, facials, skin care etc. out of her home. She did just recently buy her own space though & is opening up The Sugar Spa later this year! She will be located in the Northern Phoenix area (around the Norterra shopping center). Brazilians are $55 which is a very good price. If you would like her info let me know!

My very first time was terrible.  I went to a place that practically plucked every hair out with soft wax.  I think it's really good that you are asking around. It took me a few months to get a wax again, but I decided to try again. I went to the Madison Ave Salon and Spa in the Chandler Mall, and I used Johnny.  She was AMAZING! She was very professional and quick.  I would have to say that for me, the speed is most important.  They also were only about $60.Some people have more sensitivity in that area, so don't be surprised if your pain level is different from others you have talked to.  Don't get discouraged if the first time is bad.  You may just have to find the person who is right for you.  Take some Tylenol about an hour before hand if you have a low pain tolerance.Good Luck!P.S. Make sure you get a good sugar scrub to prevent ingrown hairs in that area.  You should use the scrub at least twice a week after a wax.

Oh, yeah, good point I completely forgot to mention! Like PP said, definitely take some tylenol or advil before you go, it HELPS. :)

I second Johnny at Madison Avenue. Kristen there is also quite good. (PS, Johnny is a woman, this was a huge relief to me when I showed up for my first appointment)
