I think you could do a wedding for less than that-especially with a restaurant reception. Another option is to get married during June, July, or August-there are serious bargains to be had. Heck, I had the Troon North coordinator tell me that during those months to tell her what they can pay and she'll make it work.
   If you really want to elope though, go for it. Maybe your FMIL would be willing to help pay for a reception to which she could invite her friends after you get back. Would that maybe be an option?
   This is really up to you and your FI, just consider carefully. You don't want to be one of those brides who elopes and then decides to have a fake wedding the next year because she regrets it.
