Cupcakes?

Hey Ladies,
I want to do cupcakes instead of a traditional wedding cake. Anyone have good recommendations of local bakeries who make delicious ones?

My cake baker does cupcakes that are delicious!!!  It is La Dolce Pesca and I had sooooo many people tell me how my cake was the best tasting they ever had!

Sprinkles (in Scottsdale) is a favorite of my family.  I have no idea how expensive they would be, but their cupcakes are one of a kind.  As far as I understand, lots of bakeries are starting to do cupcakes.  Sorry I'm not much help :)

Thanks Mrs. Allen! I will check her out

Spinkles are ok and initially did think about them, but they don't taste like they come from a real local bakery and they are HUGE. I figured smaller size is better and then people can have a few different flavors. I never finish my sprinkles cupcake when I get one.

Classic Cakes and Confections is to die for! Ella is super cool and does all her cakes from scratch we did 7doz red velvet, and lemon cupcakes with a three tier cake for our wedding and we got SO many compliments. She is AWESOME. our total was just under 1000 for all of that!

We ordered our cake with Creative Cakes by Miranda.  Her prices are very reasonable.  When she met with me to taste test she gave me a dozen of cupcakes to try out...alll kinds of flavors that I had requested and then a couple that she wanted me to try with yummy fillings.  I think I had a cupcake a day until I made a final decision!!! So do it early so you have time to lose that cupcake weight!!! :)
She can do about anything you want...flavors, designs etc.  Her website is very basic...so if you talk with her she can give you more details.  Taste tests were free and she even came to me for the consultation.

Yes, Cupcakes in Scottsdale are VERY good... not cheap though. We just bought 1 dozen this weekend and they were just over $40. Stay away from Sprinkles!

Not a fan of sprinkles either... They are so dry :(

If you live on the east side, check out the cake cafe on Ray and the I-10.  They have really flavorful cupcakes!  I'm sure you could special order small ones from them too.  They might be less expensive than your traditional wedding cakery.

I too ordered a cake from Dolce Pesca, and PJ's cakes are super delicious!  I thought they tasted better than the others I tried.  She is an artist at heart, so she comes up with great original designs.

Love love LOVE cupcakes at a wedding! I'm definitely doing those for mine as well :) I do have to say that I love Sprinkles though. They are big, but are made perfectly and consistently... I've seen pictures of 'lumpy' looking cupcakes or two of the same cupcake but one bigger than the other (maybe two people working the frosting). Anyway, that's one of the things I am considering when choosing a baker.

Let us know who you pick!

So I found a place online for wedding cupcakes and I wanted to share it with you!
    Check out Cake Contessa at:
    http://www.thecakecontessa.com/cupcakes.html

They have super cute and intricate cupcakes for only $3.50 each. They use fondant and gumpaste it looks like in their pix (which usually hikes the price of cakes & cupcakes) but $3.50 is really reasonable for those ingredients considering the labor put into it too. And you can do cake flavor tasting every weekend @ Thee Wedding Warehouse for free. Nice!

I'm definitely going to check it out for myself soon. Let us know how all your finding go!

Urban Cookies doesn't have a huge selection, but the cupcakes they do have are fantastic - not as dry as Sprinkles.  The cream cheese frosting is to die for!
