Invitation Help

Hello ladies, I'm Katie, a past phoenix knottie who got married in May of 2007. I'm now doing the leg work for my own baby shower as my sister will be hosting it but she's in college in LA right now and can't do too much at the moment. My DH and I used Mad Scrappers in Cave Creek for our wedding invitations and when I called to schedule a design session just this last week, I found out that they closed at the end of February. I loved Mad Scrappers because we were able to do as much or as little of the work as we wanted in terms of putting them together, and when the whole wedding was planned and nothing left to do, we wanted to have some hand in putting on our wedding. So, ideally, I would love to find a new invitation place that I can use that will also let me have a hand in putting the whole thing together. And, since you ladies are all planning weddings and using lots of vendors, I figured there was no better place to get recommendations from. Do you have any recommendations for me?

Thanks for letting me invade the board for a moment! Happy planning and congrats to you all!
Katie

Welcome back!  For my grad invitations we used Definitely Deborah on Ray and McClintock.  They were really great during that process, but a little pricey.  They were super expensive (in my opinion) for wedding invites.  They quoted me $600-$800 for 100 invites!  Ouch!  They do have a lot of cute invitations that you can assemble and print yourself for showers and parties, which are much more affordable.

There is also a place in downtown Mesa that has some really cute invitations that you can print and assemble.

I love the carriage you got married in!  So cute and magical!  We're going to the BI for our honeymoon too!  Is there anything you recommend?

Thanks for those! As for the BI recommendations, the biggest thing I would say, is that if you want to see the volcano and picture seeing the actual flowing lava, then sign up for a tour to see the volcano, make sure your volcano and the tour company's volcano are the same thing. Ours was not and we saw an old vent for the volcano, not the actual lava flow. That is the one thing I regret. We had a great time though.

You may try Etsy.com.  There are many sellers there that will design a PDF or JPEG file to your specifications around their design. They can then email you the file and you can print yourself or many will do it for you.

Just a thought.  This is the route I am leaning for my wedding invites!

To Nillawafer, for what its worth $600-800 for 100 wedding invitations is what industry standard actually tells you to budget for. So their quote wasnt out of line at all. You can obviously go down in prie ad quality and higher in price and what not...but just so ya know, thats not a crazy quote.

to Katie-Definitely Debra does have a TON of cute imprintables (more selection then target) They also carry the Envelopments line so you can be as hands on or as hands off as you want to be with creating and building invites.

If you are looking more for scrapbooking, my all time favorite store is Melrose Vintage on 7th ave north of Indian School! I just spent 1.5 hours in there last weekend and thought I had only been in there for 20 minutes! lol

Wow Katie, I think you know (personally) at least FOUR people who could help you with this. Any specifc reason you didn't ask your "friends"? I'm sure that Kirstin (obviously) Jamie, Kim or even Macy could have taken this on for you, and probably even at a discount....
