Arizona-Phoenix

New with tons of questions :)

Hi ladies!  I'm new to the boards and really just in the research stage of wedding planning (honestly, I haven't recieved my ring yet- but I know it's coming soon...that makes me sound so kookoo lol but it's true :)  We've already discussed dates in 2012- we're on a tight tight budget for life right now and he just can't afford a ring).

Because of our SUPER tight budget I figure I'd get a jump start on planning/researching.  I'm going to be a DIY kinda brinde and my main concern is finding a location/venue that will allow us to bring our own food/alcohol.  Right now I am leaning towards a park- but in truth I'm not keen on the idea of passer-bys being able to stop and view our wedding, plus I don't know how I feel about a reception at a park.

Any suggestions on locations (about 50 guests) anywhere in the Phoenix area (east, west whatever :)) that allow self catering etc?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the boards! And a Congratulations!

Have you tried banquet halls?  There's the Soiree Banquet Hall at 27th Ave and Bell Rd - http://www.lesoireebanquethall.com/

We used this place, but we also had to bring our own decor as well (we used Premier Events -  http://premiereventsaz.com/) - they are located at close to I-17 and Glendale Ave.

Large courtyard for cocktail hour :)

We had the hall for the full day!  We served a wedding lunch after the wedding, and transformed the hall again for the reception in the evening!

They had a large kitchen and refridgerators, with facilities to rinse dishes to give back to the vendors.

We're getting married here: http://www.manoratcatlincourt.com/ It's in Glendale, on 58th avenue and Myrtle (between Glendale and Northern).

They're letting us bring in whoever we want for catering (including ourselves), and while we do have to use one of their affiliate bartending companies if we want alcohol, both of those companies allow you to provide the actual alcohol which I've heard can be a cheaper alternative.

Not sure how tight your budget is...but Val Vista Lakes allows it and the Arizona Historical Society

Thanks, Ladies!  I'll look into all these options.  Research is telling me that planning on a budget is going to be harder than I thought, but hopefully I won't get too discouraged!  Looking at these photos/venues etc is getting me excited! :)

I am not sure what your budget is or what time of year you are planning on getting married, however, I always recommend these 2 places-

    Chapel on the Farm- Gilbert

    Inside the Bungalow- Mesa

If you're thinking about a park, how about Fountain Hills? It's a little far, depending on where you are, but I think they have a facility nearby where you could do the reception after the ceremony.

A friend of mine got married at Arizona Historical Society and I know she was on a super-dooper tight budget.  It all came out really nice!

We're having ours at Shenandoah Mill in Gilbert. They let you bring in any vendor you want. We are bringing our own kegs and wine (you have to get a bartender if you serve the hard stuff). They're really easy to work with.

There's a little wedding chapel in Gilbert. I think it might actually be called that. It's adorable, but I have too many guests to fit there. You could make it work with 50. Also, check out Antique Wedding House. I don't think they do outside vendors but they are pretty inexpensive and have way more info online than most places. Good luck! And you aren't kookoo. I did the same thing. :)

I got married at Val Vista Lakes, and they let you bring in any vendor you like (including yourself).  The only exception is the bartender; they require your bartender to be fully insured.  If you get married on a Sun-Thur, the venue is half the price.  It's absolutely gorgeous and requires minimal decorations.  Here are some sneak peaks of what we did with the place.
