This may be a dumb question, but....

If you met with a vendor and liked them, did you just sign with them even if they were the first of that vendor type you had met with? or did you meet with others just to see what your options were?

I'm not sure how many DJs, Cake Vendors, Florists, Make up Artists, etc. I should meet with before signing with them. What did you ladies do?

I guess its up to what you are comfortable with.  Part of me thinks, if you find someone first time around that you are really comfortable with in your budget then you should be fine.  But I'm kind of the opposite, I always want to see what else is out there - better deal, better fit, etc. - so I've been making sure to meet with several of each vendor.  I have tried to limit it to about 4 each, just to make it easier to schedule and deal with, although I have had email correspondance with more than that for each vendor.

All my vendors (so far) were recommended by friends or were friends of the family so we booked with most immediately without meeting others.  I had done a lot of research on all these people and had extensive email conversations with most before meeting in person though, so I had a good idea whether or not they'd work for us.  We're also out of town though, so we had basically one shot to find everyone.  If you have the time though, it might be nice to meet with a few (3-4?) to really find a vendor that is exactly right for you.

I only met with one DJ but I had seen him at friends' weddings so I was very confident in hiring him. Everyone else I talked to at least 4 - usually more - other vendors in that the area.

I think it was a little too easy for us. We visited two venues. Eveything else we were set on the first try.

But I'm the type of person who will pretty much make my mind up beforehand once I know what I want.

I met with more than one vendor for everything.  I am a type A person who needs to make sure that they are making the best decision.  I guess it is my underwriting career that made me that way!  So,  I did quite a bit of research here and on the internet before hand (www.weddingwire.com is another great resource).

While I absolutely trust everyone's recommendations on the board, you will find that when you ask the ladies here who they recommend for a certain cake vendor or DJ,  everyone here will recommend some one different!  So, you will get about 3-4 great options for every vendor who are all great.

So,  I had to take those 3-4 recommendations from all the Ladies on the board and meet with each of them!

Most of my vendors were recommended, but if you feel comfortable with them and they are affordable, I say book it! You would feel worse if you didn't book them and then they ended up being unavailable later on.

It all really just depends. I had in mind exactly who I wanted to use so it was a no brainer for me, I did meet with all of them in person, and signed with all of them on the spot!

Here is a complete list of my vendors if you ahve any questions let me know
