inexpensive locations

I am looking for a venue to have my wedding ceremony and reception. I am on a tight budget and would like some place that will allow me to bring in my own food or hire my own choice of an outside caterer. I am having about 50 people attend would would like a venue to be about $1,000 or less. Any ideas?

I haven't seen Chapel on the Farm personally, but it's been mentioned several times as an economical outdoor venue and looks lovely in photos.  It costs between $700 and $1,200 to rent, depending upon the season and day of the week.

Another option is looking into city parks.  Offbeat Bride featured a wedding at the Kiwanis Park in Tempe that looked like a lot of fun, and even the most expensive rental fees there are only around $500.

I would also check into Inside the Bungalow in Mesa:

Peoria downtown its called Old Town wedding Center...super budget friendly and you can bring any vendor or your own DIY food/alcohol!

If I was going to be very strict with DIY and a budget...it would be where I would have it!

They won't let you cater, but you should check out Maggiano's.  They host receptions/rehearsal dinners/parties in their private banquet rooms.  They have certain food minimums to rent out the rooms, but it's really affordable for what you are getting.  They have a dance floor, table linens, place settings, centerpieces, bar options, a sound system (you can plug an ipod in and do your own DJ) and a coordinator.  We really wanted to book with them, but they only allow 90 guests if you are using the dance floor.
