Ceremony Time

I am relying on you ladies who still live in AZ or remember the sweltering heat to give me some ceremony advice.  (I have happily blocked out 20 years of Arizona summers, and am enjoying the gorgeous NC weather ahaha)

I was originally planning a 4pm ceremony time for my wedding in mid-late May.  Sunset isn't until 7:30, and we only have our location until 10pm.  This would give us 6 hours to have the ceremony, eat and enjoy the reception activities.

I am terrified that I am going to kill my guests with an afternoon wedding!  Luckily Val Vista Lakes has a nice foyer that everyone can congregate to until about 5 min before the ceremony.  The ceremony will be short and sweet 15-20 min max, and we will have loads of cold water bottles.

4:00 p.m.    Bride/Guests arrive for ceremony
4:15 p.m.    Ceremony begins
4:45 p.m.    Ceremony ends / guest head to reception room for drinks and light appetizers / bride and groom pictures
5:30 p.m.    Grand entrance
5:35 p.m.    Dinner is served
6:30 p.m.    Toasts
6:45 p.m.    First Dance
7:30 p.m.    Cake Cutting
8:00 p.m.    Dollar Dance
8:30 p.m.    Bouquet/Garter toss
9:00 p.m.    Guest Depart
9:15 p.m.    Clean up
10:00 pm    Everyone off the premises

I think you are fine. Ours is at 2:30 with cocktail hour starting at 5:30 The ceremony won't be that long, if you are really worried about it provide fans for your guests, or use fan programs. I have a feeling this summer won't start off too warm and the avarge high for that time is 97 and the low is in the 70's it will start cooling down around 3/3:30 if I remember correclty. So I don't think it will be a big issue to keep your timeline the way you have it.

I did htis for my guests, so they could prepare for hte heat a bit.

I think you are fine since it is a short ceremony.  Have lots of water and maybe do fans as your program and you will be fine.

I've been to a late afternoon ceremony and thought it was fine.  I mean a little warm and very sunny, but it was bearable.  I think the fans are a good idea :)  Help cool or block the sun!  And you are providing water which will help.  I think you are fine

I've lived in Phoenix for 23 years- so I'll give it to you straight.

The hottest part of the day will be right around 4pm.  Remember seasons "come early" in Phoenix.  So February, March and 1/2 of April feel like Spring, while May starts to feel like summer.  Mid to end of May is definitely warm- so I would advise you provide fans for your guests.  If they are able to get ahold of water before the ceremony too, that would be great.  The fact that the ceremony is brief is excelent.

I agree with Beckity....It will be warm. I voted 330, if you can do it earlier I would since you ahve to be out at 10.
I love the idea of doing fan programs! Super cute!
Maybe even have a basket full of cute parisol umbrellas in your wedding colors for your guests that might be heat/sun sensative! That would make for cute pictures ;)
