Please HELP! "uninviting" wedding guests

Oy.  What a dilemma.  FI's dad and step mom were going to help us out some with the wedding, but now might not be able to due to unforseen money issues with his business.  As a result, FI and I are likely going to have to significantly cut down our invitation list.

The invitations have NOT been sent, but people know they were "on the list" because I had already asked for their address.  What do I do?  How in the world do I handle this?  I have the most horrible feeling in my stomach because I feel like I'm having to do one of the rudest things I could imagine doing.

To make matters worse, I'll likely be cutting coworkers I see everyday but don't really hang out with outside of work.

Aw girlfriend, the first thing is just breathe!  I think with the economy the way it is, people will totally understand!!! It's a definite hard spot to be in, but you'll be able to get through it.  I would start off with the coworkers saying oh my gosh, this happend and now I cant invite half the people that we wanted.  Spin it so that you're looking for their "advice" but you're really letting them know...don't expect an invitation.  No one will be upset if you are just honest with them.  Hope this helps!

I agree with the previous poster - things happen, and you happen to be in a tight spot.  Even though you asked for their address, it might be that you can't accomodate them because of your new budget.

Also, find other ways to cut down your wedding -- like no favors, less flowers, more DIY etc :)

    Hope that helps!
