Cheesy?

So I was thinking about making cards to ask people to be in the wedding party (just the ladies, men have already been asked).  I thought I would make cards with a note inside explaining that they mean a lot to me and I would be honored if they would stand by us during our ceremony.  However, my sister thinks this idea is cheesy!  So I'm wondering what you ladies think.  Do you think a card with a hand written note is cheesy or too formal?  If so, is it best to just call (I live out of the state) and ask them 'personally' so they don't have to be responsible for calling to give me an answer?  Thanks for the opinions!

I don't think a handwritten note is ever "cheesy."  That said, I would probably just call -- but that's my personality, not yours.

If it fits you, then go ahead and send the cards.  :)

I've gotten handwritten notes and/or a small gift when asked several times...I always thought it was sweet.

    Super cute!
I bought girly picture frames and typed a cute little poem and framed it in there.  The frame is cute enough so after the wedding they can frame a pic of you and her!!!!

...just google bridemaid poems and you will find so many.

I think it's a really sweet gesture. It's very thoughtful.

I made invites for my ladies. It's in my bio under the "Invites and Paper" category.  I love SATC and used the picture from the movie of Carrie's wedding and cut pictures of my friends and myself and pasted them on the picture. They loved them and loved that they were homemade. :)

I made invites, too. There are pictures on my bio under "DIY." My girls all thought it was really sweet, including my sister who thinks everything is cheesy because she is 20 and very anti-wedding. I say go for it!

I don't think it's cheesy at all!  What a very sweet and thoughtful idea.  I wish I had done that.  :-)

I also live out of state and I gave my bridesmaids, maid of honor, flower girls, and both of my parents cards ! They all loved them and it was just that little extra something to make them feel special :)
